Welcome back guys as we return to posting our 2 minute techniques! Coach Jay is back after his accident and picking right back up with the team as they continued to work hard while he was out.
In our 2 Minute Technique JiuJitsu class recap today we are discussing the Toss Pass. Now, keep son mind that as always, different gyms have different names for certain moves and that’s ok. For us, we don’t care what you call it as long as you understand the concept.
First, it’s very important to understand that JiuJitsu is a sport about control and you can’t get control without grips of some sort. This, this simple pass starts with a quick grip of the feet bringing them vertical, to push our opponent to their back. From there we simply toss their legs to the side and step to the opposite side while injecting our foot under their back. This allows our shin to pin their side and slowing or even stopping them from rotating the hips back toward us for a reguard.
For the misdirect we simply toss them to one side and allow our opponent to engage their hips to pull to the opposite. We then just take advantage of this force to go back the opposite direction and pass anyway…. And that is the Toss Pass and the Misdirect. Hope this helps you guys!
