Thanks for the video! I just set custom dimensions for event-scoped parameters such as link_URL and file_extension directly on the GA4 Events tab. I got a few questions: will these still appear if I set-up GTM to deploy GA4? If I set-up GTM measurement for the click on link_URL example A on Page XYZ will this count a duplicate vs what GA4 events was already measuring?

Thanks for the video : ) I have a question, I followed your instructions for the Tag & Trigger - my trigger doesn't fire. When I click on the tag in the Tag tab of gtm assistant and inspect it, 2 of the 3 filters are met i.e. Click URL has a tick next to it, Click Text has a click next to it, but the third filter, gtm.linkClick equals gtm.js - and so I have a red cross. How do I rectify that? Any help would be appreciated

Put in a nutshell: trigger doesn't fire because gtm.linkClick equals gtm.js NOT gtm.linkClick

That's because you clicked on "Container loaded" in the preview mode, not "Link click" (On the left side of the preview mode)

I have Tag manager with both GA4 and Universal analytics tags added. My website link clicks already show in GTM preview mode without me adding any triggers. When I check the "link Clicks section, it shows neither tag fired. But under variables it shows the name of my Universal Analytics property, but not my GA4 Tag. What's going on with that? Do I still need to enable link clicks on GTM and add all the same triggers as you did in order to track them in GA4 and UA?

It is because of enhanced measurement in GA4. It makes sone data visible in GTM. If you want to track link clicks with GTM, you will still need the trigger

why i can't get the link click being triggered though follow exactly your steps?

You might be dealing with an . If the element is in the (e.g. chat widget on a site) and you cannot put Google Tag Manager container code to the inside of that , then you cannot track that element. You can see if the element is in the by checking the developer tools and looking for the "" element and see if somewhere within it, there is your clickable element. If you don't know how to do it, then ask the website's developer to help you with that.
