I discovered that on new containers my solution doesn't work and returns only the default language. Here is how to solve this: - Open the variable 'Lookup - Site Language' (the RegEx Table) - Scroll down and open up 'Advanced Settings' - Disable 'Full Matches Only' if that hasn't been done already. - Save the variable, test the solution and publish if everything is working

Hi Leon, thanks for the video. Very helpful. The tag is firing correctly when I test and I have set everything up as per your video. However, when I looked to create a report I'm not seeing any of the dimension match types as options. Its been three days now and nothing has pulled through. The websites have a good level of traffic so thought I would be seeing the dimension options now. Could I have gone wrong somewhere else? thanks

Thanks for the great tutorial! The new GTM frontend doesn't allow for google analytics configuration. They replaced it with the Google Tag. The option to add a User Property does no more exist within the Google Tag. I don't want to manually ad the user property to every google analytics: GA4 event. Do you have any clue where the "global" user properties configuration have been landed in the new frontend?

Hey, thanks for your comment! User properties have not been hidden, but adding them has become a bit more involved. Impossible to write down here, but I'm adding it to my ideadoc. I'll see if I can make a video about this in the future or redo this one alltogether.

@@LeonKortewegHi Leon, thanks for explaining so in the current environment the above video is not useable?

@@LeonKorteweg any luck on documenting this?

Hi Leon, thanks for the helpful video. I have tried implementing this on my website and GA4 is returning (not set) values for the user scope variable (along with German and English). Any ideas why this would be the case? I had to use custom java instead of the regex lookup.

Hey! There must be something going on in the variable settings. I just posted a pinned comment with some instructions. Can you try those first and let me know how it goes?

Hi Leon, since we now have the new Configuration Tag (Google Tag) are there any differences in implementation compared to what you have showed in the video?
@LeonKorteweg Жыл бұрын
No, the interface has changed a bit, but the setup is still the same. If you're in doubt about one specific field, feel free to ask here.

Hi Leon! What’s the difference from using standard dimension Page path and screen class? Great deep dive video thanks!
@LeonKorteweg Жыл бұрын
In the past I had difficulties filtering down certain metrics based on page path and screen class (conversions, engagement, etc). The issues are mostly gone, but I still love to have a seperate dimension for country to be able to report performance over those countries.

It is not working for me. I always get the Default Value. In your video you check only the default value.
@LeonKorteweg Жыл бұрын
Ok, if you always get the default value that tells me that there is something wrong in your lookup variable. Did you use the right input variable? And did you fill in the right Regex value that corresponds with your site?

I just discovered that the behaviour of the RegEx Lookup table can be different depending on the 'advanced settings' in the bottom of the variable screen. If you open that, there should be a setting that says something like 'match in full' (in my case it is the second checkbox). Can you try to disable that?
