The 100 boulders in 100 min would not even be possible in my gym. I'm so jealous of all these videos in quiet gyms.

It would be really difficult to do 100 even if the gym was empty so maybe if you can’t do 100 boulders, try 50 or even just 25.

As a new climber I’m breaking into the V4 range (finally sent my first one today!) and it’s awesome to see actual drills I can work on. I have been able to send V2s regularly and have recently been able to send maybe 50% or so of V3s at my gym. I can tell that V4 is definitely a big jump from V3 and down (for me at least) and I’ve been wondering what else I can do besides just keep climbing and working on my technique. Thanks so much for the awesome video.

I did my first V4 today. My biggest helpers so far were a cross training (paddle boarding, but I can imagine 100 V1s too) and ... relaxation before climbing. Relaxed muscles work better, so I do massage and sauna, followed by easy and short warm up before I climb and make sure my muscles don't get tense.

This week I challenged myself to work on endurance and did 3 on, 1 off and 1 on, with the middle of the 3 days focusing on TryHard and projecting without looking at grades. It was a blast and I found that I made significant power endurance. Sure 2 moves further doesn't sound like a lot, but considering it was on an overhang and I physically couldn't do the moves before, even if I didn't stick them, that was big progress in only a week. As for sore muscles and recovery, I've been using Arnica Gel for years and using your skin care suggestions. All I can say, is if I can do that in a week......bring on the year! Try Hard and HAVE FUN! and don't be afraid to fall/fail. It is problem solving after all.

Totally something to work up to - plus, you can easily track progress by seeing how long it takes to climb 100 or how many you can climb in 100 and then test it again in 1-3 months to see if you've gotten any better :) Thanks for taking the time to comment, Nicole! I'm glad you liked the video

This is great, thank you! Been really enjoying your videos, and this is right where I'm at. One more drill I found incredibly useful, suggested to me by a climbing instructor, is "one foot balance", climbing with at most one foot on the wall at a time - really forces you to develop the footwork and body movement. Would appreciate if you could do another video on how to incorporate drills into your practice! I've been just doing them for 15 min or so during warmup, is there a better way?
@SendEdition3 жыл бұрын
Oo, this sounds like an awesome drill, thanks for sharing! I look forward to testing it out. And that video is in the works, so I'm excited that you are already looking for that :) Do you mind me asking how long your typical climbing sessions are?

@@SendEdition Oh cool, looking forward to seeing that video! I climb usually 3x/wk, mostly bouldering, about 1.5h total between ~10-15min warmup on easy boulders with drills, ~10-15min on a hangboard, and the rest is harder boulders. Currently doing most but not all v4s in my gym.

I can flash every single v4 in every gym I go in my whole city but is so hard for me to do a v5, I done a few or even flashed it but is still so hard, idk why is a such a big gap from v4 to v5 even though I do v4 like is a v2
@SendEdition Жыл бұрын
Everyone has some sort of challenge that is preventing V5 sends so this is a common issue- you're not alone. Not to mention how you feel during the session, your strengths and weaknesses compared to the route setting, and other factors like placing your hips in the perfect position for the perfect engagement. What do you think is holding you back the most?

The 100 boulders one do you have to complete them or is trying them sufficient?

You typically have to work up to the 100 Boulder problems. You could even use a bench mark ever time you do the drill to get at least one more Boulder than the last time you did it
