I once drove the full Monaco race (78 laps) on my PC...I thought I was going to die...I've never been so exhausted. If you relax for a split second you are smashing into a guard rail. I really think that what these guys do is a super-human feat of endurance/skill/bravery. Marathon runners average about the same heart rate but they don't have to constantly worry about having a life threatening crash.

actually if you drive in real life its a big of a difference the g from the driving in real life compared to the g in the wheel of force feedback is much of a difference and its actually fun and keeps them active you can even feel it in karting because I went to karting once and the amount of force in there is absolutely brutal going in like 80 km/h which is mental it really feels fun when you do irl compared to in a sim

Big difference from playing on PC than in real life. Yes. Real life racing can be really exhausted but it much gives you adrenaline and that makes them stays for a longer race. Compare to PC, it gets pretty boring after some time and makes your body lose adrenaline and lose focus.

@davidtenshu5 жыл бұрын
@@Jejking if you think that is exaggerated, you really don't know how these cars work, no assisted steering back then, a 200 mp/h monster trying to slam you out of the road in a turn... See the Senna's onboards, how he brawls with the steering wheel of the car, now imagine 2 hours of struggle in a race session, it's not drama, it's physics.
@Jejking5 жыл бұрын
@@davidtenshu Trust me, I do know (avid follower since 1997). That's not bluff, it's a fact. Allow me to explain. Yes, you are right. There was no help for the drivers, you had to do everything by hand and there was no power steering indeed. Some years ago I was fortunate enough to interview Andrea de Adamich, look him up. I knew about Senna's psychology already through some books, documentaries and the like: he was there to win and did everything to sit on top of his game. That included pumping himself and others up, to create a myth around him. The problem I and mr. de Adamich had with it was that he was screaming like an absolute madman across the finish line. That conflicts with him having to be carried out of his car. Senna is the type of guy who had an astonishing fitness regime, plenty of cardio and muscles. He trained very, very hard for that. I believe only Schumacher was ahead of him (but there isn't too much comparison available with current crop drivers, it's very much protected like state secrets). Back to Senna, of course he was tired but not for a second I believe he was that exhausted, if you take a look in his eyes on the podium and how he carried the trophy. We agreed that it mostly felt like drama, if you also take into account that it was a damp track which was lighter to drive. And there is nothing wrong with that, because he's been an amazing driver just like Schumacher, only overly competitive at times. But it's a touch of background history that causes us to think like this, and appreciate what happened in front of our eyes back in the days.

I know these quite well because of cadetship in an Air Force soon, you need to have an extremely strong overall body, that’s because in close quarters you are prone to prolonged exposure to 9G loads, sounds like little, when drivers crash they have a max G force of over 50 at times, but it’s temporary, *try holding 9G for 45 seconds, while tensing all leg, arm and chest muscles, and using a special type of breathing emphasized at training which helps in handling high Gs* I’ve not started yet but I know that this is coming up and it’s an exclusion factor of many cadets

I agree it is not phisicaly easy to drive a nowadays F1 car. But if it is true, how difficult was driving a 80's F1 car? More power, no steering assist and manual transmission. To make things a little bit more interesting, death was always close.
