For everyone getting into the retro cams and looking at this with confusion, just know not all camcorders are the same. The model she is using is convenient enough to have a built in hard drive + docking station with a modern USB connection, but if you’re using a Hi8 or MiniDV (tape) camcorder, you won’t be able to access your videos through a USB. There’s allot of great information out there on retro camcorder technology, but you’ll not find any useful information here.

If you have a tape-based camcorder, (Video8, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV, MicroMV) you will need either an old laptop with a FireWire port or an EasyCAP DC60

@@lampgenso i would like to add that sometimes you wont be able to find good deals on the handycam station itself, i bought my dock bundled with a broken sr82 so now i have two cams LOL, it was the only cheap option lmaoo like i said it takes time to find cheaper and better options but, def try the memory card first!

Yes! I agree I had to be very patient until I could start using! Trust me the universe will bring it to you. There was one listed for $50 and I know it was way overpriced but someone later listed for $10 on eBay. Just gottta manifest haha

i have the same exact camera pretty much and i have never used the dock funny enough. feels like a lot of work using it tbh. i would just plug it into the camera itself and go from there. the majority of the time, it worked on my end. could be different with everyone else 😅
