I was hoping for a better trick than slow it down until it’s the same bpm. I mean, yeah, get songs to the same bpm and then mix.. you don’t say? I was hoping for some kind of cutting or scratching technique.

slowly turn hi pass filter on to take out the bass and then reverb out the 1st track at the end of the phrase and then press play on the 2nd track with low pass filter all the way down at the exact same time you get rid of the 1st track. ez and sounds seamless

And the reason that didn’t sound right is because both of those tracks are in the same key. But they are no longer in the same key once you’ve slowed the seconded track down by that much. It’s worth remembering that every 3% pitch adjustment equals one semitone in the key of the track.

I don't how you get 3% since I get 8.33% speedup for a semi-tone 2^(log2(1+1/12)) ≈ 1.0833. Or simpler, leading to the exact same result: 1/12 ≈ 0.0833.

Another simple way to make huge jump off BPM is to speed up (or slow down) on vocals (acapella without beats) or breakdowns, several tracks of different genres give this opportunity.

i personally use the sync trick, in which you enable sync on the next song and just rise the bpm on the master deck (the bpm on the next song goes up as you do it). very simple and easy. this way you can transition from bigroom to dubstep in a single buildup.

Thanks for the tutorial! What about going from hardstyle/dubstep/trap (140-150bpm) down to bass house (126-130)? Or from hip-hop/top 40 to house (80bpm to 128bpm)
@valentine4589
@valentine4589 2 жыл бұрын
well, you don't go down the tempo once you reached the higher one. you kill the hype this way, slowing down track feels less energetic but you can do simple fade out on 1st track and play 2nd track in its original tempo, like DVLM do a lot. just check their last TML sets when they play hardstyle, then impact comes in, 8-16 bars of silence and another, slower track starts playing with hip-hop trap you easily can just speed up, from 80 to 120, OR you can go kinda extreme, and go slower, to 60 bpm so it matches 120 bpm. that is kinda cool ngl

you still can do this - sure you CAN. but SHOULD you? ;) Believe me, know what I'm talking about. You can check our YT or soundcloud. And the fact that Hardwell or KSHMR or somebody else drop another genre in the same set is brilliant. I also try to mix more than one genre but in some logical and esthetical frames. Let's say 140+BPM hardtrance is ok to mix with 150+BPM hardstyle but going to mix something between 40BPM of difference will hurt one or another track. Always. Maybe it looks good when you have a big stage, you have an MC and you can make "silent transition" announced by MC, but what was shown here is just bad practice.

What about you are playing 126bpm Tech House and a girl asks for 90bpm Moonbathon? Answer is: ignore her. Jokes apart, are there any videos about House\Dance set not in festival situations where people and owners of pubs and discos used to think you are a jukebox and you have to put Radio stuff (or shit more frequently that doesn't deal anything) that has a big bpm difference? For Example, you play Guetta - Don't Hurt Me and someone asks for Ed Sheeran pop... When you are in similar genres at a festival it's ok, you prepare transitions like this, but if you are a dj that has to work near to public there are different situations

@lilmaxAlarcxn

jesus that was gwad awful.. Don't do this your working twice as hard for a transition that will suck all the energy out of your room! You have 1 track with key lock engaged you can move a FULL 8% without audible distinction if you want to be even cleaner you can just prepare the faster track to -8% Use a break or a build up to speed up the track playing to +8% percent drop the new track in. SYNC then move the New tracks pitch back up to its INTENDED BPM of 150 All while having full control and a free hand to eq and use effects or trigger a roll. This will work across genre from dance to rap to latin to whatever.. just in case @Crossfader reads my comment, I do not mean to be Negative but.. PLEASE STOP TEACHING KIDS TO MIX BAD
