Modified a trailex SUT 220S trailer to haul my 2015 outback. I chose the Trailex trailer because it is light weight and can easily be hauled by my compact car.

Well done setup. Well thought out. It looks like you took YOUR needs and addressed them. That's the way to do it.

Great job, looks great. Where did you buy the tires and did you do anything else to make the tires work or just swap out the 8 for the 12?

Great video! I have a question: What is the strip you have running down the center line of your hull? Is it a skidplate? Im looking to do something similar with my boat. What is the material?
@BobbyRaeAllen7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for linking me to it! I will keep it in mind for my Commander 120. Im starting to get some pretty bad scrape on the bow from launching at boat ramps.

Thanks man fortunately Ive got Appomattox River Company down the street I can just bring the boat into the shop!

Dude this is so sweet! I have a 2013 Civic and was wondering if I can launch my 14 PA from normal boat launches if I build a similar set up. Have you had any issues?
@GTboosted7 жыл бұрын
sweet dude. I started the build a couple weeks ago! Ima have to steal your idea of mounting a box to the tongue.
@funkycoldmedina673 ай бұрын
No issues with that build. But of course I didn’t stop. Sold the outback kayak and got adventure island sailing kayak and added another support for a secondary kayak and took that to the keys and cracked my frame. Even with the cracks the trailer got me home.

Great video, would be nice to see it being launched. My pa 14 is getting heavy and is starting to get tidius loading and unloading on and from my small car. I fish long hours on the great lakes, so i carry a lot of gear. Been thinking about getting a trailer. Just so I can rig up, launch everything in one go and park the car. Do you think this will work on beaches?
@funkycoldmedina674 жыл бұрын
I dont have it anymore but I did not back the trailer in the water- I used the beach cart and just rolled it to the water.

I have a 14’ Pro Angler 360 that is trailered. I honestly couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. The only issue I have is that because I’m towing it with a Honda Odyssey right now it makes for some difficult beach launches unless there is a decent boat ramp.

Where did you buy that size of trailer from to fix up? I want to do one like that as well.

Why did you put the 3 inch pvc pipe on the trailer ? I purchased this trailer and waiting for delivery. Did the runners not work that well? And last what brand is your ratchet straps
@funkycoldmedina674 жыл бұрын
JUDE MOCK 3” pvc fit perfectly with the Hobie hull and gave the best support. Not sure which brand ratchet straps.

The tongue weight is really 100 pounds? I would think it's lighter. My Malone trailer is about 25 pounds.
@OceanStateKayakFishing7 жыл бұрын
I Vigio I would think that would make the tongue weight less. I have a Malone and the tongue weight is only 25 pounds. Trailer total is 195. Tows nice behind my small car.

how much did you get it for?
@funkycoldmedina67 Жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew. I pad somewhere around $1100 for the trailer. I bought it online and put it together. It is great for one kayak. If you plan on customizing the trailer and adding a bunch of things I would strongly urge you to spend less money and just get a jet ski trailer brand new for around $800. It can handle much more weight. With the trailer in this video I converted it to hold my Hobie Adventure Island , rod holders and even a second kayak- I took it down to the Florida keys (from NJ) and back. Once back I realized that I caused stress cracks in the aluminum. Yeah- if you have the discipline to keep it simple and want light weight- this trailer is for you.
