I just visited Colombia for the 1st time 2mos ago. It was one of the best places I've ever visited. Spent 1 week there. Flew round trip Spirit Airlines from Miami to Armenia for $299 USD. Rented a car and drove from Armenia to Cali which took 3hrs. Drove back to Armenia. Thought about driving from Armenia to Medellin and saw it would take 7hrs so we flew on Easyjet to Medellin round trip (45mins each way) for $85 USD. Rented a car and toured Medellin and hit the night life clubs. Returned home to Miami with $1000 USD that was in my budget to spend but didn't spend because traveling Colombia was cheaper than I expected. Also the food was great. Some of this trip is on my novice KZbin channel.

I was just in Cartagena for Christmas towards the New Year. I was enjoying the night life most evenings and I experienced absolutely 0Zero safety issues, no crime, no violence, nothing untward or unstable. Very peaceful and free going.

stop talking shit. i saw a guy throw a big rock at window of a taxi 10 mins taxi outside city centre cartagena. there is alot of unreast with president. saying colombia is a safe place is crazy. i talked to tourists who get held up by kids with guns in evening time in Medellin with money and phones stole.

Biggest advice I have for anyone who has plans on visiting and as much time as Steve does is consider Salento or the towns in the coffee region. Gets you out of the city, get to see the country, much cheaper and just a whole lot of fun.

Hello, we spend 4 weeks in Colombia and this was our route: Guatape incl. Piedra del Penol - Medellin incl. Santa Fe de Antioquia - Salento incl. Valle de Cocora - Pereira - Bogota - Neiva incl. Desierto de Tatacoa - Villa de Leyva - Barichara - Bucaramanga - Isla de Baru - Cartagena. For this route we booked about 7 months ahead following flights: Pereira-Bogota / Bogota-Neiva-Bogota / Bucaramanga-Cartagena. The rest we did by bus. Colombia is a REALLY, REALLY BEAUTIFUL country, if not the MOST BEAUTIFUL in the world. (Compared with 136 other countries)

Is there anything interesting to do near the western coast and the Amazon Rainforest?
@BackPackerSteve6 жыл бұрын
Both are pretty hard to access - if you make it to Cali you can do a day trip to that coast...but the picturesque spots are only accessible by boat and fairly expensive. The rainforest is a tricky one as this area is still a bit dangerous due to militant groups. For more info I'd suggest to check the LP Colombia which was just released, I linked it in my guide which I just finished on the Blog (yay!).

Here is my plan for when I visit Colombia: Fly into Bogota and spend 3 days in Bogota, then 4 days in Medellin, then 2 days in Cartagena, and 2 days in Santa Marta. Does that sound like a good plan? Should I adjust it? I welcome any advice, thanks.

spend less time in Bogota and stay longer in Santa Marta area.
@bebop5045 жыл бұрын
@@eddydrew6029 Thanks for your response. Should I only stay 1 day in Bogota, or 2? What else in Santa Marta do you recommend, besides Parque Tayrona?
@eddydrew60295 жыл бұрын
@@bebop504 For Bogota, two days should be fine: check out the major hotspots and the salt cathedral. The nightlife there is also solid. For the coast, check out the beaches that are east of Tayrona like Costena. La Guajira department is a really interesting area: it's a desert on the carribean and there are lots of natives who inhabit the region. It would be a very unique cultural experience if that interests you.

But was wondering if you know hoe much you spent in total for your 6 week travel? I am trying to figure out how much I need to save to afford 1 month traveling. I have booked tickets for about 400 pounds return to the Uk. Also on a side note if you ever need any music for coming travel videos, please let me know as I am a singer and music producer and have been writing music for english channel 4 and Sky News. big love / Tilda Allie

Enjoy the country it's amazing and really cheap, I recommend you going to cartagena(visit castillo san felipe and rosario island), Santa marta(parque tayrona and the beach),Bogotà(the T zone if you want to drink something,salt cathedral is like 1 hour close to bogota), medellín(El peñol,comuna 13), pasto( the lajas cathedral and la cocha). Those are my top destination if you want to travel to colombia. Greetings from colombia. Always take plane is not as expensive as told in the video ( i recently bought a ticket from bogota to medellin in about 16 dollars per trip in one of the best colombian airlines which is called avianca. -if you want to move arround the city there are several apps such as easytapsi and uber, wich are really cheap.

interesting and complete;let me add something, being Colombian:-if U come for the weather, travel at end of year, January or February which is the dry season; Bogota will be sunny, almost no clouds...but a little costlier everywhere for being the touristic season.-Beware of the street food, U could have a bad time with your stomach, specially with juices; after being away from my country even I.m careful but I DON'T DISCOURAGE U in trying new food.-Respect tp Uber, it is NOT that they are illegal, something like U take a cab and U are going to jail;the problem lies between the government and the company but I don't know if U can book a Uber from Bogota to Medellin,,Question, are U German?

Not necessarily true. Just use universal precaution and you'll be fine. Travel tip: get the phone number of a taxi driver from the airport. Try to only use him or her to go to remote places. If only traveling to known areas, you will be fine with regular taxis. But again use a little bit if sense. The reasoning for connecting with taxi drivers at the airport is because typically authentic taxis onky have access there. Lastly, have your hotel/airbnb call the taxis for you. They're required to copy the taxi ID number when they take you. Enjoy!
