The ferries to North are also on the back of the station, at the waterfront, a level lower than the bus station. And the ferry is free, no charge, no ticket.

Great video, but I have a few gripes. One thing I believe you could’ve mentioned-because I’ve found it to be one of the aspects of the dutch train system that disorients some visitors-is the fact that many trains that stop at Amsterdam Centraal don’t have it as their final destination. So the screens may show an unknown destination in a large font while ‘Amsterdam Centraal’ is just one of many stations down the line. Besides wanting to go to Amsterdam Centraal, many tourists may have a hotel nearer Amsterdam Zuid, Bijlmer, RAI, Sloterdijk or even Hoofddorp. Especially since Zuid is connected to the city via a metro line, it can serve a much larger catchment area. I believe it would be useful to create a companion video to explain how to get to these other destinations or how to find the best route to a destination in or near Amsterdam in general.

Hey Jules! Thanks for the comment. We're actually working on a general public transport in Amsterdam video. We will definitely be mentioning different "transport hubs" of the city. In general, it's challenging to fully capture everything in a video of a couple of minutes but we're giving it a good try!

Always check in and out by scanning your ticket. This is not only important when going through the turnstyle at Central but on the train if a conductor checks your ticket and its not scanned in before boarding they can fine you. However most conductors are pretty understanding and will cut you some slack.

@@simonux1226 If I am not mistaken they are located on the floor above the train stop around the area where the escalators go down to the train area. They indeed sort of blend end .

Yes, you can collect your regional ticket at the Connexxion Tickets & Info, located at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Schiphol Plaza). You can use your ticket from there on, to travel to the city center as well!

I bought 2 train tickets online in advance from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station and so I have 2 QR codes on my phone. At :56 it shows the person checking in before going down to the train but that doesn't look like it will scan my phone's QR code ticket? Do I scan my ticket there to check in? Or with my QR code ticket, do I only need to scan it when leaving Amsterdam Central Station since the few videos I've seen show those are capable of scanning a phone's QR code ticket (I think!) Thank you :)

@@amaterasu4792 Since it was last year I honestly don't remember! But I do remember just going to the information desk and asking the person in the booth how to scan the QR codes and they explained it in a simple manner. So maybe try that! I also learned it's much easier to not worry about buying tickets in advance and just buying them when you get there is very easy as well!

Hi Adam! Apologies for the late reply. Good to know for next time, you need to scan your ticket/QR code every time you enter the public transport and every time you leave. So you check in and check out every time! You can first scan one QR and then the second one. Hope this helps for the next visit!

Hey Lional! It's pretty similar to what is mentioned in the video but all that would need to change is your destination. ;) In this case, you'll need to go to "Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena". That train/metro station is right next to the arena. There are several apps/websites one can use to get directions (9292.nl, ns.nl, and good ol' google maps). There are several trains you can take (Intercity and Sprinter), and you don't need to worry about assigned seating (there are none). Just make sure you are in the right area depending on the ticket you purchase or "OV" card you have (1st or 2nd class cars).

No. The IAmsterdam city card does not cover the train. It does provide bus and tram travel, GVB.
