As some people with existing BRP cards are having trouble setting up the e-visa, why did UVVI not simply create these automatically from details already held ? They could then have sent a secure link to enable e-visa to be seen.

Do the following: 1) Make sure your eVisa is linked to your passport so border staff will be able to view your status on their system. 2) You can also show/share your status with them by: 2a) Getting a share code before travel and note/print it on a paper and provide to border staff at Airport. Share code is valid for 90 days and you can request a new share code after 90 days. 2b) You can also show them eVisa through UK Immigration ID Check App in your phone 2c) Go to view and prove service online at www.gov.uk and print out your eVisa to show border force if in case they ask

Just think of the chaos if they scrapped physical passports using this same logic. People like physical documents as everybody understands them. Where were the human factors in all this, what was the cost and why was it so vital ?

I think it will be more convenient as you only need to carry and show your passport. Your eVisa will be linked to your passport in the portal.

@ however if there’s ever any internet issues or computer issues an infinite number of issues time will tell. I’d doesn’t beat simply handing them a card that says I can be here

But BRP cards can be stolen, damaged and tampered but it wont happen with eVisa. You dont need internet and Border force will automatically see your visa status on their system as usual. You can get share code to prove your right to work or rent and it will be valid for 90 days even if you dont have internet access, it will still work

Yes, you will have to show your passport. eVisa will be linked to your passport and Immigration office at Airport will be able to view it. You can also get a share code and give them to verify if in case they need it

Hi. If you have linked your BRP and you can view with eVisa then its fine because you can link either BRP or passport.

Yes you can get share code which is usually valid for 90 days and can also keep a copy of email and your status which you received from the Home Office. You can use it if in case there is no internet connection etc

I used to have an indefinite leave to remain visa around ten years ago, but I applied for a British Passport 10 years ago. I still have an indefinite leave to remain visa sticker on my old passport. Can I apply an e-visa with indefinite leave-to-remain status? And how to apply? I am worried my countries will find out I have more than one citizenship as they only allow one.

You can try but technically British citizens doesn't need an eVisa to travel. But you will have to make NO TIME LIMIT application first to get BRP card which is a free application and can take upto 6 months. Once you get BRP card, you will be able to apply eVisa.

When you create your eVisa account and see an option there "Link your eVisa". Once you click and follow the steps, it will be automatically linked which may take few hours or weeks. You will only need to show your passport when traveling from 01.01.2025 onwards

You can travel with eVisa but the home office guidance says you must keep your BRP card with you till December 2024 when travel out or in the UK

It is possible to travel with eVisa but I said above UKVI expect you to carry your BRP until end of Dec 2024. You can request for a replacement. It is upto the Immigration Officer (discretion) at Airport to let you in without BRP or not.

In Africa airport border officers they dont let you travel back to the UK even they don't have access to internet there so with out physical UK resident card yiu will never come back Really is a big problem and people now will be scared to visit there family and loved one

Your eVisa will be linked to your passport. Airport staff will be able to view it. You can also provide them share code or show your eVisa in UK Immigration ID Check App in case they need it. Make sure your contact details are correct and updated in your UKVI account

@@UKVI.updatesusing the app to show your evisa is not a one click step. You have to make multiple inputs before finally getting the evisa on the screen. And imagine where a father is traveling with young kids. Is he going to use the app for each of his dependent child, each requiring multiple steps?

You only need to show your passport and thats it. Border staff will be able to view your visa because it will be linked to your passport. in case of any issues or further confirmation, it is best practice to keep a print out of your eVisa and as well as get a share code before travelling which is valid for 90 days and share with border staff.

I have registered for the eVisa and have received my indefinite leave to remain. I’ve downloaded the Uk immigration app but you need another phone to revive the QR code which isn’t helpful if you travel alone. Why do you need two devises to do this?

You can start creating account through pc/laptop and then it will take you to mobile where you will download app to scan your face and take selfie. If you wish you can start the process from your phone
