I struggled with acne for years, turns out it was triggered by not only dairy, but gluten, soy, and caffeine as well. Given my experience I feel people really underestimate how much acne, especially adult acne, is triggered by diet. And what those triggers are varies completely with each individual. Some people do better vegan or cutting dairy; mine didn’t clear up until I reintroduced meat after being a life long vegetarian. Each person has to figure it out their triggers for themselves. In my case it took several months after eliminating my triggers for my skin to clear, and when I slip up it takes about a month for my skin to recover. On the plus side my fine lines I getting now that I’m almost 40 don’t bother me because my skin still looks better than it ever has, lol.
@r3dsunl1ght153 жыл бұрын

@@Jess-737 dietary triggers are more likely due to undiagnosed food intolerances, not because someone is eating a poor diet. And that’s only one type of acne, obviously there are others. I don’t think it’s “victim blaming” to point out that some people with acne may have undiagnosed medical conditions. It’s not their fault. Our medical system likes so much to go for the easy fix, and often those of us with food intolerances have to figure these things out for ourselves which can be incredibly difficult. And there are research papers that show a link between some types of acne and diet. More research obviously is needed.

I’m super glad you mentioned retinoids! They work great for stubborn/holistic treatment-resistant cases of acne, and have helped me with my struggles with it in high school. They’re a bit pricy though, so it’s a good call to let that be a latter line of defense or in the case of extreme cystic acne. Also good call on mentioning adapalene (Differin) I remember when it was prescription only back when it was used in a dual formulation benzoyl peroxide, as Epiduo. I remember when it finally became OTC, I was just waiting for it to blow up - and wouldn’t you know it - it eventually won beauty product of the year (can’t remember where it won that but it was touted as such on Differin’s packaging.)

I had really bad acne as a teen and young adult that led to keloids. Seen many doctors during those age. None of them really helped. Now, I have the "funds" to wipe it all away as I'm much more financially secure. But I chose to not do anything about my scars. At the end of the day, your scars show who you are and what you've been through. So I hope you don't let others put you down. Though you may have skin challenges, it doesn't change the great and good person you are inside. That's what people will see once you get a lot older. They will appreciate you for you. As a teen and young adult, it's quite challenging because social media makes it hard. Strategist that market what the beauty standard should be make it worst. Be a good person, do the right things, have a big heart, work hard, and you'll have the abundance things you've never thought you'd have. And when that day comes, yes. You can take those physical scars away. But I bet you won't even notice it anymore because your confidence has changed and the way people will talk to you will change because you're leading the way that you don't need the perfect skin to feel secure.

I struggled with acne so much to the point, I didn’t want to leave the house. My whole life I’ve been told it’ll clear with age but it was only getting worse every year (F26). It reached a boiling point for me last march and I decided my only goal for the year was clearing my skin. I did mass elimination diets. Found that dairy was causing a proportionate amount of my acne, found out I was also celiac and have a hormone imbalance! I now take probiotics and a supplement from the anti acne club. My skin is a world apart less than a year later. Still little issues, but now we’re just working out what other things I’m allergic too. I’ve never bought into topical treatments for something that I believe is an internal issue. Of course topical treatments are very effective but can’t treat the root. I used a topical antibiotic and retinol to help accelerate the healing process and to clear some of my scarring.

I was bullied because of it and many people stared at me like i was some sort of freak show! My relatives who know they have clear skin make jokes about it, and when i tell them what they said hurts my feelings they just say im too sensitive. I spent sooo much money on this because i really wish to look at myself at the mirror without feeling ugly or disgusting. Im still struggling with it but it was not as worse as before. I would compare myself to everyone and i would cry every night wish those red bumpy pus filled marks go away the next morning. I even try to avoid as many people i know, especially my classmates so that they wouldn't see my face cause im too embarrassed. I lost my confidence a long time ago, i honestly dont know how to get that confidence back. Especially rn im struggling with some depressive episodes and stress, it makes everything even worse. I'll have to try a few of these when mine gets bad again! I also struggle with psoriasis, could you also please make a video with holistic ways to treat it? I feel like I've tried so many things only for them to quit working after a while :(

Nor exactly holistic but what got rid of all my acne was the pill that is anti androgenic called Yaz, as well as a healthy diet without dairy and junk food. I also use the Paula's Choice BHA which is like a miracle in a bottle, and also retinal, niacinamide and azelaic acid in my routine

I had to take the mild antibiotics to see any kind of result. After a month or so with these pills, the acne, bacne, zits and so on disappeared. This is soon ten years ago, and I have not had any issues with anything like this again. Barely any pimples all these years later, no acnes, they were a great solution after trying everything from creams and diets. I tried it all, and personally for me, nothing worked. The doctor helped me :)

I had cystic acne. Now, my skin mainly has white heads and black heads. I get backache. That's insecurity. I wish I could wear a cute dress but I feel ugly. I will try the supplements. My routine is simple. I stopped doing the 10 steps Koreans be doing. I love dairy so I'll limit it to see.

Cutting out diary helped WONDERS. My acnes literally disappeared after 1-2 months after I stopped consuming diary. I wish I would have known this before spending tons of money for products and useless medicine treatments.

I’m for sure going to try some of these. I was diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa this year officially after years and years of trying to figure out what I had. My neck is scared to the point where it looks like a was in an accident. To this day I’ve looked for ways to try to help lessen the flare ups since sometimes my medication doesn’t quite do it. Hopefully some of these tips might help it.

I have a question: People always say you should wear sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent it from aging quickly. But most of the people that I've watched that say this are American. I live in the Netherlands. I absolutely use sunscreen during the summer but is it as necessary for me to use it during other times of the year? It's always cloudy and rainy here and we're way further north than the US so the sun is less powerful. I understand that there's UV even when it's rainy but is it as necessary for me as it is for (for example) Americans? Will it make as big of a difference?
