If you think having acne is bad, let me tell you having acne-prone, extremely dry/dehydrated/sensitive/rosacea skin is a nightmare... So difficult to treat and manage, very few products that won't irritate it, and you spend fortunes trying on new stuff hoping it will help. It takes a lot of money, time and energy to deal with it. So thank you, Renee, for this video!

Try the Avene Tolerance Emulsion. It doenst contain any pore clogging ingredients and is just amazing. Due to my breakouts this year i just stuck to the light Emulsion and paired it with hydrating serums any. Just to be safe. They do have a thicker creme, but i didnt want to risk it
@xxhuntressx4 жыл бұрын
Just wanna say I had the same thing (but instead of white heads, the moisturizer just didn't work for longer than 20 minutes- then I'd go back to shedding snake lol). What worked for me was trying the "7 layer skin" method where you focus on layers. It made the moisturizer not matter as much because the hydration came from the toner- it also felt like the inside of my skin was actually hydrated. It's so weird, growing up I would try and find the thickest cream, yet none of them would do much. Turns out layering a hydrating toner just happened to work for me.

Same nothing has ever worked for my skin i have lots of skin colored bumps on my forehead and my cheeks constantly breaks out with pimples. This product actually works. Within 1 use u can really see the difference in your skin. My skin started peeling and became really dry and dehydrated for some reason and i used this product and my face brush and washed for 30 seconds on each side and i could literally tell the difference in one use. My skin looked like it had shed a layer and i noticed that my acne wasn’t “hidden” under my skin it was on the surface now. The second day i used it didn’t see much of a change as this had already brought everything to the surface but my skin was hydrated and literally glowing!! Ik with more uses my skin will be clear asf!

Rather than avoiding Benzoyl Peroxide, when my skin is dry I prefer to use short contact therapy for 5-10 min and then rinsing off. For some of us, BHA’s just don’t do anything to help acne, sadly. I also cannot use chemical sunscreens as they are actually huge contributors to my acne. If I moisturize well underneath, I actually find physical blocks with silicone in them to help seal in the moisture. Crazy how different everybody’s skin is! YMMV indeed.
@laltlanchhungiralte7784 жыл бұрын
It's crazy how similar our skin is! I cannot use chemical sunscreen at all I've tried all the hyped ones from Bioderma to Klairs every single one broke me out and I've been responding really well to silicon based products like The ordinary azaleic acid suspension and BHA breaks me out every time
@TheAlexa64 жыл бұрын
HangSang Ralte Have you tried the Australian Gold Botanical tinted sunscreen? Some people find it drying but to me it is HG status!! Carli Ewert This PC 2% salicylic acid ruined my skin! Be very careful. It worked for break out for 2 or three weeks, then the break outs came back. Besides this it cracked my skin all over the face, it gave me hundreds of fine micro lines across the face like a chessboard! My skin got paperthin, you could see every blackhead coming up like under a microscope. It took me month to heal my skin somewhat! It contains tons of alcoholic (non ethanol) solvents, I think they are very aggressive on the skin.

For giant under-the-skin pimples, I use the microneedle/dots from Rael. They are about $1 per patch on Amazon and come in a 9-pack. They are pricey but they really take care of deep zits. Even though my skin is finally clear, I keep a set of these just in case because they are miracle workers.

I used to think this was a super rare skin issue to have because no one was talking about it. I spent ages battling with this, through years of defeat, and finally found a skincare routine that's very outside of the box, but which works well for me. Some the stuff I use is actually what you recommend in this video, and I agree about being careful with harsh chemicals, but some of what I use goes against your advice. All in all I use a mild perfume free face wash, a "3-in-1" cleanser/moisturizer/scrub for the low amount of salisylic acid in it plus it's a great second wash and pre-moisturizer so I like it actually because it does all 3 things kinda poorly, a random face scrub, baby oil, aftershave, aloe vera gel and beard oil, for my entire face on an (almost) daily basis. A lot of products (seven, not counting additional beard care and shaving products I don't use for my entire face) and a lot of steps but it's been clearing up my acne as well as giving life back to my previously very crusty skin. Breakouts on dry skin is a long term issue for me and not just something that happens on occasion. I've always had acne but since I reached my late 20's a few years ago I dried up like a raisin but the acne persisted at the same time. So I dunno really what could be causing it. It seems I may have gotten myself some chronic dehydration which probably contributes to it though (like my whole body struggles to hold onto water, ie moist) and then maybe some hormonal issues additionally.

hi!! i have acne prone skin and i have dealt with acne on my cheeks (occasionally chin) for a couple of years. recently my skin pretty much cleared up and while i am VERY pleased, i still have acne scars that i do not know how to get rid of. i use a la Roche posay cleanser with my hands only, then the stone crop mist toner on some cotton swabs (not sure what it does, but i like the hydration and refreshing feeling), then i use a tretinoin cream (derma recommended), and finish with cetaphil moisturizer. i have really dry skin, but also can get very oily on my T zone, so not sure if that is combination skin or just dry. i think my routine has really worked for me except my moisturizer is not strong enough and i would like a more hydrating one. i hate fragrances btw and they make my face break out a lot so i tend to stay away from fragrance in my routine. i heard some good things about first aid beauty moisturizer, la Roche posay's, skinceuticals triple lipid restore, and cerave's moisturizer. keep in mind my skin is very acne-prone and I'm not sure which i should use or which to stay away from. also i want to change out my toner with the AHA/BHA exfoliant from paulas choice (not sure about the difference between AHA and BHA or which is better for my skin.) i also want to try the ordinary niacinamide serum and a CE ferulic vitamin E serum, but not sure where that should go in my routine or if i even should use it at all. also, i do not use face masks because they make me break out so if you have any gentle, fragrance free, and hydrating face masks i could use for extra hydration once a week that would be great! Thank you so much for the video. it was very very helpful!!

Great advice as always! I’m super stressed and it’s showing, so I’m going to focus on retinol and BHA as actives during the week, and skin barrier protection and sunscreen during the day. Curiously, the only time my skin has gotten really irritated was after using a high percentage zinc oxide sunscreen. I use chemical sunscreens ever since.

I've been so confused 😫. I've had oily skin for so long but I'm starting to think my skin is producing oil because of my impaired barrier function. I have eczema prone skin and as a child suffered from severe eczema, so all this time I could have been battling the oil with products that are too harsh for my skin. I think I'm gonna try to use the toleriane line of La Roche-Posay and see if repairing my barrier will do anything for my oily skin

The same thing happened to me! I had quite bad acne and a face dripping with oil about an hour after washing it and I always thought that was just what my skin was like, so I always attacked it with clearasil and other harsh products. But when I started trying out gentler products, I realised it was the harsh products that were drying me out and my skin was overcompensating 3000%. Now I only use a gentle cream cleanser and a basic moisturiser and my skin looks so much better - healthy glow not deep fryer face. Having seen a dermatologist since, they told me only a very small amount of people have truly oily skin, most people are a combination. (btw the Toleriane range is really great! - good luck!) x

@@Gigglypeach Oh wow! I relate to that! I seem to get oily skin after just an hour after washing my skin. I'm so glad your skin is doing better now, I can't wait to try a more gentle routine myself, too!

This was me, exactly. I highly recommend La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume at night as your last step to help with barrier repair. It worked better than the Toleraine moisturizer for me though that is good too. It’s so thick I was convinced it would leave me with huge cysts but it somehow it actually heals any breakouts. My skin is much less reactive and I find I can handle Retin-a with no problems now that my barrier is healed. When I think of how I stripped the life outta my face with 25 years of BHA, AHA’s and overuse of Benzoyl Peroxide it’s just sad. Ugh.

I had super oily skin and couldn't figure out why. I finally realized that my skin was so dehydrated and dry that it was over-producing oil. I started hydrating with oil-free lighter layers and it got rid of the oiliness. It's been a journey but I finally have clear skin.

Hydration helps a lot! Use gentle non stripping cleansers that keep your skin hydrated and just layer hydration. Can even skip the moisturizer!

I actually went from using Dermalogica, a whole range of skincare, to a very simple drugstore one. My skin is looking and feeling great! I'm so surprised! Nivea Glow eyemakeup remover, Garnier milky micellar cleanser, Neutral toner and Dr.Greve sensitive face cream. I bought everything at the supermarket here in Norway and the face cream, is one of the BEST ones I've EVER tried! I still use the eye cream from Dermalogica tho. But this is the only stuff I've been using for two weeks now and I can't remember my skin has been this balances and good looking for years.

On behalf of all of us suffering from adult acne (lovely.. 🙄) but have dry skin (and even drier where the acne found resting place on your face) THANK YOU! Until now I felt I had to pick - do you want to get rid of the pimple, or do you want to get rig of the dry patch 🤦♀️So happy I have a starting point and some recomandations. Btw, I feel like Dears, Klairs entire range is so nice and soothing for us acne dry gals 😊 Again, thank you Rene! 🤗

Awesome video as per usual!! Very much looking forward to your video about sunscreen for dry winter skin!! :) also what 1st oil cleanser products do you recommend? The ones that have require a washclothe to remove (e.g. dhc oil cleanser, which I love since it is both synthetic and natural fragrance free)
