Bad idea. Some use an old trick from when cars were burning oil when they got old and would then foul the spark plug. They put an adapter into the spark plug hole and then the spark plug back into the adapter. This kept the plug further back and away from the oil so that it did not oil foul so quickly and cause a miss. Well, videos like this one came out and suggested doing the same thing with your o2 sensor to fool the computer. They suggested, like this one, to put that adapter in the o2 hole and the put your o2 sensor into the adapter. That keeps the o2 sensor further away from the exhaust gases where it is supposed to measure the amount of oxygen still in the exhaust. Well it works for a time until that cheap spacing adaptor melts into the threads making it all but impossible to install another o2 sensor. As others have said below, fix the problem.

2006 Prius, used the 02 sensor spacer to eliminate and trick the p0420, after 1 week I get a p0138 and shortly after multiple misfires. I dont know if the spacer caused this, but I removed it anyway. And I have 2 bad coils. Im replacing all plugs and coils. I cleaned the fuel injector connector plugs, and found the #3 was black inside, cleaned with electrical cleaner. A little oil on the #4 plug, which I will use a syringe and tubing to suckout any remaing oil. Hopefully finished for a while. Going on 300k miles.

Some mutt stole my cat and even though I had full coverage Geico would not pay for a new one so I bought aftermarket which started coding in a year or two I added a section of spark plug extender just like this,this last year its easy and i don't see any downsides,if you are rich and can afford a couple of thousand for a new cat go for it!

All the time and effort is getting to the sensor and unscrewing it (ask me how I know), the sensor itself is reasonable to buy if you source the part from the OE (less than half what the dealer wanted). In other words if you are go to this trouble, you might as well replace with the real thing.

Been driving 1000's miles for 7 weeks with a broken Nox Sensor downstream. Engine Check Light is on after starting. However no issue's with performance, mileage or misfiring, if anything it runs like a dream. It is only there for emissions I think, but a new one is very expensive. Obviously it needs to be replaced but I will look for a used Nox Sensor as I am soon going to sell my Vehicle, so it makes no sense to buy a new one.

The first o2 sensor(s) in line will control the fuel/air mixture. You leave these alone. The next set after the cats is the one that checks cat performance and can be fooled

@@crf150r You need to fix the problem, not fool the computer. The advice in this video is terrible advice to give people that do not understand the consequences of messing with the O2. It can damage the engine, and have a chain reaction of additional problems. Modern cars need accurate sensor inputs to work as designed. If you fool the computer just to get the check engine light to turn off, you are causing other problems that will rob your engine of power, performance and reliability. If you have a high fever, does it make you better if you fool the thermometer?

It will but the computer knows there is supposed to be a sensor there and will eventually throw a code for no voltage from said sensor. Plus you would have a hole in the exhaust then and a mechanic would most likely notice the missing sensor if they're doing the inspection the right way

Actually the front O2 sensors are used to measure the air fuel ratios as it goes to the converter if it's working properly this should change as it comes to the sensor back to the computer it's a matter of just being of slight voltage change the front sensor is the one that gets your car to run properly determines if it's different after going through the catalytic converter, it's not as complicated as you think, you can fake the aft sensor front is critical to engine tune, aft just checks we say emissions really it's just a simple voltage check to the parameters of the air-fuel ratio.

Buy a new O2 sensor. They’re cheap under 100 bucks and if you have an upstream and downstream test them both to make sure they’re in range with an ohmmeter and if without out of range replace it, they’re cheap forget about a used one.

Peace be upon you. I had a check mark in the car. [Kia Optima 2007 engine 2.0]. And I checked with a computer and the error came out... bank 1 sensor 2... meaning the second candle after the eco box and I changed it with a new candle and cleaned the eco box and the same thing. Is the error repeated and repeated I installed this thing that you explained in a video and nothing changed and the error appears again?

Lets say I have an 04 Silverado 4.8 and want to run straight pipe back to a muffler with no cat converter. Can the sensor function be disabled altogether? How? I think this is why hot rod builders prefer the older engines to work with that did not have all the crap on them.

Don't remove the first sensor, it makes the engine run better. The second sensor is meant to tell the computer if the cat is working properly, removing the second sensor will give you a check engine light but will not affect the way the engine runs. "Hot Rod" builders don't build cars as fast as people who know how things work and how to tune a car for more power. The Silverado 4.8 won't be faster with straight pipes, just louder. If you want a faster truck, buy one with the better engine. The 4.8 is known to be low powered but very long lasting. If you start f*cking with things you don't understand, all you will end up doing is ruining your truck.

So annoying people put up bogus info that's wrong just to get views. Fail. The downstream sensors do more than just check the cat. They are part of the equation that calculates fuel trim. There are several situations that can happen as a result of problems with the downstream data. The situation most people are interested in is the situation where the cat has been removed. In this case, the voltage to the downstream sensors will read high. When the downstream voltage is high, over 1.0, this indicates a situation where there is too much fuel in the exhaust and not enough oxygen. This could be because of a lot of issues. For example, the engine is too rich, a bad injector, a bad spark plug, the cat is bad, or the cat is just missing. As a result of high voltage or the perceived rich conditions (which couldbe false), the default program will set the downstream o2 voltage to a preset value of 1. This will cause the fuel trim to become very lean. You will notice your engine will run hot and over time start to even burn though or cause cracking of exhaust parts, usually first seen in the welds between exhaust piping. Theres a lot more related to the downstream o2, however thats the general idea. Long story short, that downstream 02 does factor into fuel trim. And if you want to bypass an O2 sensors you really have to tune the o2 out if the program or your motor is going to run into trouble.

Will you have codes PO 171 on the Toyota don’t jump to the O2 sensor check for your vacuum leaks check your mission evaporator system you’ll find this is not the O2 sensor so don’t waste the money O2 sensor start from basics remember check vacuum hoses to much bull on repair on KZbin guys be real of fixing cars check engine light on😊😊
