How To Troubleshoot a Starter

We were at the boarder at Windsor Crossing. Shut the truck down, and it would not start again . The quickest that mobile would come was min 4 hours. I USED YOUR VIDEO (without screwdrivers) but a 5th wheel pully bar and a key for tire chains jammed between those wires. It worked! Thanks a million, brother, and because I am starting to write and amazed material for 7 Star Express, I will definitely be linking and using your videos as teaching tools. Thank you thank you thank you. I tried to do it before but didn’t have the truck turned to on. So some sparks happened and scared me to death. But truck wouldn’t start again so I refused to pay for another person to jump start it for me so I tried again with the truck on and finally it started. Took it to frieightliner and they have no idea what’s wrong with it smh. It’s a new starter too

I have a 06” pete 387 has a cat c15 475 hp, was working perfectly fine everyday until I didn’t start it for 3 days because I was off, it was cold like in the 20 degrees everyday and go to start it, and it doesn’t start thought it was the battery it’s not I have THEJ on the charger for 3 days now the batteries are good when I go to start it the engine doesn’t turn or move at all the dash and all lights work and it makes a click click click click click noise when I try to start like a ticking noise, no turn to the engine at all? Just changed batteries a few days ago. Now my truck won't start. When I crank the key my dashboard blacks out. Wiring issue? I have a lvd that sometimes disconnects my cab power and sometimes it doesn't . It's temperamental. All I have is a fridge and perhaps my radio on. Is that what is cause the power drainage?

So my starter has a very sluggish start. Especially in the morning. I thought its the batteries. Nope. Replaced the batteries and still have the same problem. Could it be the starter? Mechaic says no. Its either starts or no starts at all. It just spins weakly.

RoadHacks by Max On the second method you use with the Screw Driver Is that possible if you turn the key on Ignition and do the Screw Driver contact , will the Truck start ?? I mean if there is no one around To start the ignition I guess that will work... I try mine with Eletric wire from the Starter to the Alternator....

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use screw drivers jump starter there truck. Use protected wire.
