This was awesome! Exactly what I needed in a clear, understandable manner. Thank you!

This is the first time in "58" years, I have ever seen a tutorial on this, which is absolutely priceless!!!!! Thank you Glenda, for such a helpful never before seen, tutorial on truing a pattern which makes 100% difference in the way novices learn to sew. Hugs

Now, that was easy to understand Glenda. You are so patient in displaying what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Thank you. I am already more informed in ONE of your videos than I have in my whole lifetime! Thank you, thank you, thank you,

I just found you on youtube and I subscribed right away. I have been sewing clothing since I was a young teenager at age 13. I was lucky enough to have been a mostly perfect fit sewing pattern size 12 (old days sizing) most of my life. I didn't need to learn to change patterns. I was good at sewing. Now 40+ years later my body is different and I have been frustrated with fit issues (slight dowagers hump, muffin top and changing dart placements), and I stopped sewing just when I really needed to sew my own clothes for a better fit. Now after finding your tutorials, I think that you have taught me so much that I will start sewing again with confidence. The timing is perfect for me to sew and use my new found skills..... Thank You!!

I'm learning so much since I dug my Sure Fit kits out of the cupboard and drafted my first blueprint. I've sewn one top, but I've decided to go back to the drawing board and redraw my blueprint using this information to fine tune it. (You guessed it; I used a pen, not a pencil!) Thank you for the clear presentation. I appreciate the way you get to the point and explain everything so well.

Thank you so much! I have used commercial patterns for many years and can't even count how many times the shoulder seams do not match up (no ease) or, the underarm sleeve pattern is not a smooth join. I don't think I ever thought there was a way to fix that...and now I know. The learning videos are wonderful! I subscribed, signed up for the newsletter and will join the FB group as well.

Boy, sure glad I watched this and did these checks before cutting fabric! Too bad I had already added the seam allowances. I had to make several changes. I made a note in my instruction book to be sure to do these in the future BEFORE adding the seam allowances!

Hi April, I'm so glad you watched this too. A little erasing is better than sewing it up and being unhappy with the outcome. Makes me think I should do a newsletter reminding everyone to do this before cutting fabric.!

No, you didn't miss this in the books...that's why we did a video on truing to help you perfect the final pattern.

@@surefitdesigns I see you mention earlier about putting this truing in a newsletter I have added this info into my book as I had cut mine out before and found where my seams were wrong I thought I had drafted it incorrectly 🤨glad I watched this lesson it’s now ok on second muslin 🤗🤗

thank you for this video. are there certain points on a pattern that should always be trued at 90 degrees?
@surefitdesigns6 жыл бұрын
It depends, anywhere where you don't want a flip or angle as one line connects with the adjacent and intersecting line - often at CF and CB.

How do you change the back or front shoulder in case they didn't align well
@surefitdesigns3 жыл бұрын
B Elemson - well hopefully you've drawn your pattern in pencil. You can simply erase and make one seam line up with the other.

I have narrow shoulders that slope down 3/8 inch from my neck point to my shoulder point. I have made those adjustments And don’t get a right angle when trying to true my pattern. Do I need to have a right angle square in this particular situation?? Thanks to anyone with input Maureen
@surefitdesigns2 жыл бұрын
@Maureen Hopper - you may have to 'force' the corner to be a right angle. The armscye seam will flow more smoothly from front to back at the shoulder line and the sleeve cap will set in easier. It's best to have the right angle. We now have the latest Curved T-Square tool - see this video as it shows you how to draw this corner at the shoulder point - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqvdaK1uiLKYgqc

hi Glenda. I've been following your tutorials and you may be solving my 15years problem. you see I've been sewing all my life but this she last 15 or so years I have gained a lot of weight and although I do sew a bit for myself I never seem to get my clothes to fit me well any more. I'm really interested in getting the dress pattern.My only problem is that on my tummy I measure 61 1/2". as I have a very large hanging tummy.do you think Stf design will work for me? have to say that though I am an dd cup I measure less on my bust than on my tummy.I'm 55" there as I'm not so big at upper chest and shoulders.sorry for the long message but I don't want to buy the pattern than realize it won't work for me. thank you and look forward to your answer

I love the top that’s on the mannequin to your left! Is there a name for that peplum top?
@surefitdesigns3 жыл бұрын
Phyllis Campbell - that was a commercial pattern that I used as an example in our Fitting Commercial Patterns DVD tutorial. It's pretty simple...it has a cap sleeve, a scooped neck and the peplum. We have all those instructions in our SFD instructional material...it's just not 'put together' per se as a fashion Leaflet.
