Today we are tuning our bass ukuleles with various tuners. Most bass ukuleles have built-in tuners, but there are a few other options including clip on tuners and tuner pedals. This is part 4 of my bass ukulele mini course.

Great Video as usual, and I assume you are doing a live stream tonight, and I'll be there whatever you have planned, and if you have to skip tonight for another Thursday, no worries again. As far as Tuning, No matter what Bass, I really try to Tune by ear just because it is good practice. Obviously, Electric and Upright Bases do not have built-in Tuners. I have a Really Nice Looking Fancy Korg Tuning Pedal which I got for $50 approximately at Guitar Center, and my Zoom B1X4 Multi-Effects Pedal has a built-in tuner, but unlike the stand-alone Korg Tuner, and using the Tuner built into a Ukulele Bass, the tuner on my Zoom B1X4 doesn't mute while using it. Another weirdness. Even though all 3 Tuners: The one on my Zoom B1X4 Multi-Effects Pedal, My Korg Tuner Pedal, and the one on a Ukulele Bass have all been Calibrated, If I use one of them to tune so the line is in the middle at Green, the other 2 would be off to the right or left of the center still, and then if I use that Tuner, to make that tuner Green and the line in the center, then the other 2 tuners will be off a bit, but to my ears, the sting does not sound any different LOL. I know strange. I also have a Tuning App on my Up to date Android Phone and it does the same thing LOL. I don't own a clip-on tuner at this time. I just have not found a need for one between the Pedal tuners and the tuners in my Ukulele Bases and my phone app so far. Plus the fact that I am trying to tune by ear more. Anyway, whatever you have planned, I'll see you in the live stream, if it's tonight, great, if not, whenever the next one is, and we'll talk Bass teaching and learning another time. Cheers. 🙂

Hi Luis! At some point I will, but right now I'm focusing on this course. The main intonation issues with playing are on fretless instruments or from pushing down too hard/at an angle on the polyurethane strings. If it is the instrument itself, that requires some aspect of a setup. Your action may be too high; different strings may help, but it is harder to solve those issues. Thanks for watching!
