How To Tune Up a Volkswagen VW 2.0L and Change the Coil Pack, Spark Plugs & Wires

A how to video performing a tune up on a 2003 VW Beetle with the 2.0 liter naturally aspirated engine in which I replace the spark plug wires, spark plugs and coil pack.
This video applies to Engine ID code- ABA, AEG, AVH, AZG, BBW, BDC, BEV, BGD, AGG 2.0-litre, (1984 cc, Fuel Injected) 85 kilowatts (116 PS; 114 hp) Found in 1992 to present Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen New Beetle

Our 2000 Beetle (AEG coded engine) doesn't have an air pump like yours does, and there are a few other subtle differences between 2000 and 2003, like the design of the coil packs. But you are totally right when you say to get the spark plug wire tool--I can't see how one could remove or install the plug wires without it. My first tune up on our 2000 was a chore, but it was worth it versus paying a shop!

What's the deal with Volkswagen plug wires. I noticed mine on my Jetta has this metal cluster around the wire that connects close to the spark plug. If I change my plug wires with standard run of the mill plug wires will it cause a problem? The "official" Volkswagen plug wires are almost $200!!!

Start from the bottom up (from the ground on the way up) is 1 2 3 4 that is firing order

Cylinder #1 is the closest to all the belts, then 2, then 3 and finally cylinder 4 is the cylinder nearest the transmission. There should be letters on the coil pack which tell you which cylinder it corresponds to.... A = Cylinder 1, B = Cylinder 2, C = Cylinder 3, D = Cylinder 4

@@E4EonEbay I understand that. you wouldn't have wanted to be in that heat on a broken leg because it was so hot it was miserable. There was more people this year and all the famous KZbinrs where there but that heat killed me. They say there going to look into getting a tent with AC.

@@joshhanson6777 It was hot during the TDH show in VA I wouldn't have done that on cruches, I did manage to hit up the Sandford Sounds show in Maine with the leg locked straight and that was no fun in a field in the heat. I got more footage from TDH as well as the St Judes show that was in NY just haven't had time to edit any of it yet.

@@PeterFeltersnatch852 aside from the leg things have been good, Bree has some footage coming from St Judes show she wants to get on her channel, her 5k blew up at the TDH show in the lanes during one of her runs and she doesn't have it back from The Amp Lab yet, but she is going to NADBL finals in a few weeks so hopefully some footage from there as well. Today is her 1st day back to school and she is taking a lot of AP classes for yer senior year so between work and school shs is pretty busy but should have a new vid or two up on her channel soon. 6" extension & universal swivel was what I used and was able to reach and remove them, I apologize for not showing the actual removal of each of the plugs. Thanks for watching and commenting.
