Exactly as My Mom showed me. I watched for a refresh. I am new to the harp and just acquired my very first harp from my Mother. She started learning a few years ago and she has come a long way. I play guitars from bass guitar to extended ranged to baritone guitars. I play in all styles on electric and acoustic from folk to classical. Learning the harp now is so fulfilling to me. I absolutely love it. My wife is even getting her hands on the harp and it sounds so beautiful. Guitar is a difficult instrument to play and I have had years of practice to develop muscle memory on many instruments. I feel this is very intuitive for me and I just have to watch my time as I could play this all day and night and forget what day it is lol. Thanks for the great and helpful video.

This was fantastic! Thank you! I so appreciate your clear explanation of what you were doing. I tuned from ?.. to C, yesterday, twice. And, today, again twice. I have chosen to tune to 444 hz, sometimes called the key of David. And, I will tune to 528hz when I learn how to do that. So far, I haven’t found a tuning device that will go above 466 hz. Will Solfeggio frequencies come up in your teaching?

So what is the difference between the lever harp and a pedal harp?

The lever harp has a lever on each string and when you engage the lever with your left hand, it just makes that particular string higher by one half step. A pedal harp has 7 pedals and you use your feet. When you change the B pedal for example, it makes ALL the B strings go up by one half step. Pedals have 3 positions (for flat, natural and sharp) but levers only have 2 positions, so on a lever harp you can’t play in every key. On a pedal harp you can do accidentals or modulations within a piece using your feet, whereas with a lever harp you have to use your hand and it takes longer because you have to change every string one by one.

Should I return my harp?? I tuned my harp into c major and made sure my levers were all down but when I bring it up to make my notes sharps they are not in tune :(

That means that your levers need to be regulated (adjusted so that they do a proper half step). You can phone the harp maker or harp shop to find out whether you can do it yourself or get it done by a professional 😊

Hi Christy ! I just bought my first lap harp (12 strings), but I can't find anywhere which cord corresponds to which key ? What's the order? from the front to the back for example? Mine goes blue - white white white - red - white white - blue - white white white - red ^^ I hope I'm clear enough ! Hi Christy, so I have a 19 string harp and when I flip my levers up the F string for instance with become G flat and then G string will become A flat should I be adjusting the pegs above the levers to change the key or will I need to unscrew the lever entirely and adjust its height on the frame to change the pitch?

Hi Chloe, great question! G flat and F sharp are the same note, so it’s not a problem with your harp, it’s just the way your tuner displays the names of the notes 😊

Omgosh you talk alot and by the 4th string u dont even say what note it is. My harp was not In E it was not in tune how can anyone match ur tuning with u rattling on about stuff that at this very moment matters not. I am sorry but say the note stop talking so we can hear it. Say the next rinse and repeat.
