Man THANK YOU for that explanation.. And wording it that way.. That jist helped me so so much.. I may not be racing, but for me... Driftting suspetion set up plays a big roll on making the car do what u want when u want. And the roll center is were my problem is.... Cause i understand other aspects of the way it works. But by bring them all together is what will make it work. Agean Thank You.. Peace

Great video man, so if I raise the arm hinge pin I raise the roll centre because the instant centre raises up. Is that right...?
@traxxasrockhead

if you raise the hinge pin that mounts to the chassis then yes, the would be raised

@@traxxasrockhead not 100% but, I'm sure he just asked, if the hub pivot points are close and the diff pivot points are separated? the line would never cross! this is if he had his dog bone level.
@gatorage850
@gatorage850 2 жыл бұрын
@Matthew Seger Roll Center is always moving, the measurement is really not the importing thing. but, ""at arm level"", if your upper link is pointing down (shock tower to hub) you have low roll center. but this is only low roll center at ""arm level""l!!! this mean at ""arm level"" in a turn, your outside arm (hub) will try to lift (less pressure on the tire) and your chassis will go down. to get the weight on (tire) you will need a stiffer spring or swaybar. (if you're trying to add grip).

@traxxasrockhead
@traxxasrockhead 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not totally sure but I do know what I explained was a static illustration and when you drive the car some of those points are changing
@inactivek730
@inactivek730 7 жыл бұрын
If you lower the ride height, you lower the CG. And vice versa. You generally want as low CG as possible so that the car doesn't sway side to side too much. Just think about monster truck and sport car making turns and you will know. As you lower RH, you lower RC too. The only reason that prevents you from lowering RH a lot is the bottoming of chassis over jumps or turns. So too low RH will bottom out chassis which throws off handling and too high RH will make your car drive very unstable. Provided that your car doesn't bottom out while running on the track, run lowest possible RH (CG).

Lowers center of gravity. Always set ride height first then droop then camber and so forth. Roll center should always be done last if possible. Shimming the hinge pin blocks to adjust kick-up or anti-dive. When i was racing touring cars regularly, i would typically adjust roll center only when racing a different track surface. Asphalt vs carpet. Have fun. Nice video.

great explanation but why in the world are you running the rear mount in the plus position with +4mm under the ball stud. I would assume you are running on carpet by the tires. I would think you would want the mount in the minus position with no spacer to create a high roll center to prevent traction rolling??
@traxxasrockhead

Bart Grider you are correct. After I made this video I changed my set up to 0 spacers on the rear

Now how does the length of the link fit into all of that?
@traxxasrockhead
@traxxasrockhead 8 жыл бұрын
it does not
@traxxasrockhead
@traxxasrockhead 8 жыл бұрын
the length of the camber link set how much tire is in contact with the surface, which you may want more or less depending in the track conditions
@nateemmett4485
@nateemmett4485 8 жыл бұрын
Well with camber at the desired degree, the length of the link would be effected no? Say inside hole on Chasis to all the way outside hole on hub, or both studs on inside hole. See what I'm saying.
@traxxasrockhead
@traxxasrockhead 8 жыл бұрын
+nate emmett I don't really follow. but if you are asking if the camber of the tire will need affected than yes. if raise the ball stud, your tire will gain positive camber. I think I miss understood your first question
@nateemmett4485
@nateemmett4485 8 жыл бұрын
+traxxasrockhead I guess the best way to word it is does the length of the camber link come into play at all at the same Camber setting.... ie with the ball studs moved as far away from each other as they can be -1 degree camber vs the ball studs as close as they can be at -1 degree camber
