svg is not the only vector based file you can import in blender in fact you can use .dxf wich also exports from illustrator and other vector based softwares. dxf ofers the ability to import the files with a unit of 1 wich in illustrator you can set as 1mm but blender will read it as 1, this is important because it doesn't alter any mesurments along the way, so if you want to 3D print a logo it will be at the correct scale you had set in illustrator. theres is also another way to clean up the mesh wayyyy faster by using a decimate modifier and select the planar option and applying it, any imperfections just do the process described in the video.

Why the long cleaning of triangles? In mesh, edit mode, "select all" (A) then press F!

Definitely a faster option! If your shape has a hole in it, you'll still want at least 2 ngons to keep the hole to avoid issues when insetting to create a nicer bevel.

Hey Tom, I'm not sure exactly which moment you're referring to, as that timecode seems off, but in general you can select the faces you'd like to convert to an ngon and press 'f'. Let me know if that isn't what you are asking about and I'd be happy to clarify.

In Illustrator, Save as > SVG > (open automatically the window) SVG options > Advanced Options > CSS Properties > choose the option "Style Elements". This solved my colour problem. Also, make sure that, in Blender, you choose the option File>Import>Scalable Vector Graphic (.svg) and NOT "SVG as Grease Pencil".

I believe that this specific vector file is possibly just messy before being imported, so maybe a better first step would be cleaning up in a vector program before importing. Also, it might be easier to redraw for simpler shapes, but for more complex logos, that would be pretty inefficient (either way this process feels like it could/should be smoother)

First time using blender and Missing some Big steps like how do you scale your size.. and how do you Get an over view? how do you Rename your parts of the logo in the right hand bar. right click does not give you any rename options. for beginners this video is to vague to make any real progress with my Limited experience with this program. how ever if i was experienced in this program this is exactly what i would be looking for to resolve this kid of issue.

2:35 This has nothing to do with the quality of the SVG file. Getting a really messy mesh is just the expectable result of turning an organic, smooth vector graphic into a body of stiff and edgy polygons.
