I’ve been watching a lot of KZbin videos on a certain topic, and Robert Greene is by far (in my humble opinion) the best educator. I literally bought his book The 48 Laws of Power this morning. In this video, Robert mentions having naïveté, in terms of how people utilize and manipulate their power. I can relate. I finally figured out about manipulation when I was 33 years old, due to being brainwashed/controlled by a man whom I regard as narcissistic. Now I’m 39, I’ve been researching SOOO much (I’m currently being manipulated by somebody - I just can’t get away) so, I’d like to thank you Robert for opening my eyes to the truth and having legitimate information, and the help you are giving to people like me.

You’re not damaged or slowed down in any way except that you allow. Where you are is your starting point. We all have one. What happened in the past has NO bearing on your tomorrow, except what you allow. It’s too easy to blame the past stuff (no matter how true). No one ever got ahead in anything, ever, using blame as a tool. Your tool kit includes things you’ve learned FROM the past stuff. If you’ve learned nothing then you’re going to see it come up again and again, until you do. I have learned all this the hard way. I share this with you so you don’t have to.

Here's a tip: people will not ask your age, but they will use your graduation date as a proxy. Graduating later can make you look younger. The most important thing is to graduate into a good economy for your sector. Think about whether to have a "Plan B" or to go for broke in a field where you love the work and excel naturally. People who advise you to forget your true passion and be "practical" may be doing you a grave disservice, because if you end up having to compete with people who LOVE love what they do, you probably can't. They may be able to work 50 and 60 hour weeks, no problem. That is always a drag -- and not practical, either.

What you want to do is discern their opinion of themselves and mirror that. Perhaps in a good light, but a mirror non the less. For example. Lots of beautiful women don't actually think extremely highly of themselves, they know they have faults like everyone else. If you approach them with unearned adoration, they see you as a manipulator like all the other men. If you approach them with a mirror of their own opinion of themselves, an accurate mirror, they will see it as actual respect, like you actually see them.

This is a lifelong process of always looking to myself as to how am I like them or allowing their behavior bc of weakness? And I then work to rid myself of these instead of blaming others. I need to calm down and analyze situation to find solution and become the arm for people to depend on. (Of course I did not immediately shut off emotions rather just received a direction to become more resilient) That chapter literally changed my life for the better things I dreaded became mundane.

I can relate to his process. I wrote my first book when I was seven. Later in life, I ended up helping old people in care homes to write their life stories and publish them on Amazon for their friends and family around the world to read. I also turned the poems I wrote for them about their lives into animations that I put up on KZbin. What I earned doing this helped me pay off my mortgage and invest in the stock market so I could buy a second property and rent out the apartment that I own mortgage-free. I also managed to write over 100 books including two novels and several poetry books by following that voice that just said to me that I had to write.

Toiled all his life, doing the same thing, in the same industry, he made some changes and took a risk, sold his company for $780 million 6 years ago , he toiled there for 50 years. At points the company had negative worth. He decided to get better people by paying more then competition , significantly more , and selling more expensive and luxurious product, after a year or so the avalanche of money his company started to make, allowed him to advertise and grow like crazy. He got a private Jet and a box at Jets stadium , he is a lifelong Jets fan, that’s not a very successful team. But he stuck with them. He made his sons and close associates millionaires . Just remember the world is a stage and everyone is an actor and the sooner you realize that what people say is typically the opposite of what they really want and that you should just figure out the role they are playing and you can win anyone who you meet over. Need to be someone you don't know, its a lot harder to change a negative opinion than to create a positive one

Do you mean this guy could possibly be a "bad actor" out to manipulate weak people with flawed personalities and weak characters so they can destroy themselves and one another?

This guy is brilliant…big fan of his books and he just puts out the information based on events that happened…if you use the info for bad then you’re evil not the author
@squarerootof2 Жыл бұрын
How do you know the author intention is not for people to use his books to be evil and destroy trust in society and in one another? How do you know he's not a sociopath out to subvert the weak, unsecure, ease to manipulate people who read his books?

I just started listening to this and Robert said "there are negative reviews?" Is hilarious!😂😂😂

I love Robert Greene’s books and the message of being aware of manipulations & social surroundings and defending yourself against it. Where people are messing up is that they feel like they must be liked by everyone so will use the laws to be fake, manipulative and disingenuous.

Jordan is the best interviewer. Used to listen to his previous podcast and then he launched this and its even better. He has incredible guests. He has the best banter with his guests of any interviewer. It's the right mix of casual conversation, banter, deep questioning and always moving the interview forward.

I done the thinking someone into a good reputation thing all the time with reportedly bad patients at the hospital. It works. I always try to think positively of people and the meet my expectations all the time.

Jordan, friendly observation, you have a tendency to interrupt Robert when he's in the middle of a point that I, as the viewer, really want him to finish. This s more obvious in the middle/second half of the interview. Robert Greene is awesome, great job having him on!

The people that are making negative comments are those who got caught on their game. They hate to admit others know about their personalities. Politicians, business and religious people pretend to be who they are not. I couldn’t behave like the characters because it wouldn’t match with my personality, but learning about the 48 laws has helped me to recognize people with those traits and given me the ability to deal with them.

Nobody calls Fifty "Fitty" except people who are from the culture. Robert is intelligently respectful and doesn't presume to be so. Just like one who visits England wouldn't imitate a British accent because you're talking to someone from that location because it could be seen as presumptuous and disrespectful unless clever humor is employed.

This was such a fun and cool interview with the great Robert Greene. I try to watch all of his interviews but yours was really a good time. The fact that you joke with him, and he seems to embrace it is refreshing. It’s funny that you read all the daily laws at once. It’s information overload and you still came out looking real smart. Color me impressed. ❤️
