Last year we upgraded to a Jet JWL-1640EVS 16'' x 40'' Electronic Variable Speed Wood Lathe. Since then, we have been wanting to start a new segment on the channel called Turning Tuesdays. These videos are meant to be relaxing but also entertaining and somewhat instructional. In this episode, sit back, relax and watch me turn a ring on the lathe.

@@TripleLRusticDesigns no problem! They also make boring bar sets to help you mill out the initial hole more accurately with the tailstock perfectly square. I got my set at craft supplies USA. If you make a lot of them it’s totally worth the buy!

What kind of head is that you attach in beginning? Looks simple to use

He said you’d understand why it has to be porcelain. I don’t quite get it but he said it has something to do with the way bodily fluids wash off of it so easily, but i’m not too sure.

Really nice looking ring. The purple heart will oxidize and turn a brown unless you keep it out of UV light. Just simple sunshine will cause it to dull and loose it's color and luster.

I hate to be that guy but it pains me to see your lathe so rusty. Please take some time to clean and restore it. You can keep it rust free after you clean it up by keeping a good coat of T9 Boeshield on it. I know you live in Florida, but tools are expensive and should be maintained. Done preaching. The ring looks nice.
