I'm wanting to electroplate copper to glass, then use this process to change the colors on the surface. If I put some kind of resist on the copper before it goes into the zinc and then another to keep oxygen off the surface in the atmosphere could I potentially have all three colors present on the surface? Secondly how safe is this to do myself, assuming I have a respirator to avoid inhaling any zinc fumes. Thanks!

Your first question just needs to be tried experimentally. For the second one, zinc is not fugitive.

So, in this case it was more a misunderstanding than simply falsehood. The alchemy turned copper to silver or gold for the intents and purposes of IT'S time (appearance-wise) but did not actually change the properties of the metal in any way.

Really cool experiment. Can this experiment be done in a large stainless steel container not in glass? I have a large copper ball the size of a football with some protrusions around it and I need to submerge it in about 30 liters of water to cover it . If this is possible, how much zinc will be in 30 liters of water. And would heating on a gas stove work? If it is not possible what do you advise me? Thank you
