should I buy the new rotors or resurface the OEM rotors. new one cost about $150 for all 4 , resurfacing cost about $60. is there any advantage of resurfacing over buying new one apart from cost savings.

OEM rotors are generally better than replacement rotors from your local auto retailer. If the rotors aren't that worn down (measured by a dial caliper), stick with the OEM's.

Is it safe to remove material from the outside edge of the rotor using this method? I need to make some 330mm diameter rotors measure 328mm, could I safely remove material from the edge? Or would the air vanes make it difficult?

You can try but you'd have to shave a little at a time or the cutting bit will break off.

quick question, if i have pulsation in the brake(assumiing rotor is warped) can turning the rotor bring it back to shape or get new one. I know new one is cheap as well, but wondering if turning can help.
@hardlymovingpro5 жыл бұрын
Yes ... resurfacing the rotor (if the wear is not too bad), will eliminate the brake pulsation ... guaranteed! You can try bringing the rotors to your local Oreilly's Auto Parts store for resurfacing. They charge around $10 a rotor. Put on some good quality brake pads to complete the service. Do not re-use the old pads.

@@hardlymovingpro I noticed that when you pulled it out, you could still see the ring on both sides where you first determined the cut depth. Does that mean that you should have machined it a little more the second time. Was it a small enough groove that it would not be worth worrying about? I am possibly getting a job at a machine shop and was just wondering.

@@xenosaga2286 That's not unusual and won't impact performance. The key is to shave down the peaks to prevent new pad vibration during braking.

Pretty good video but you should always take equal cuts on either side so you should have did four marks on both sides. You also should clean the face of the rotor where the Hub mounts to and where the wheel mounts to. Clean all that rust off of that can throw your rotor off when you mount it up
