Very very nice tut Howard. This is exactly how tutorials should be. Getting to the point, no bla bla in the beginning, no uuuhmm aaahmm during the video and no other disctractions. I know, not everyone's a pro like Howard, but nonetheless, here's how it's done guys. Keep the amazing work up Mr. Iceflow Studios.

Yesterday I found your lessons here on KZbin. You are amazing! I love the fact that you use layers not to destruct the original and find the way you explain it incredibly clear and understandable. Love to watch this and wish you all the best in publishing more lessons. You are the master! This one to turn day into night and above all the lamps you lightened up, amazing!!!

FYI - I used the same technique on CS 5.5 and the results were just as spectacular. Thanks for posting this tut.

Thank you. I have a light effect project due Thursday for my graphics design class and my professor goes so fast that I can't seem to keep up with the class. But after watching this video and going through the steps I got this project down perfectly. Great tutorial!

It's more realistic if you check colorize and move the slider to blues or purples in Hue/Saturation after dragging the slider of brightness to the left and the contrast to the right like Howard said... love your tutorials, Howard!

Oh god! Howard thanks GOD! I had a dream just now that i fell into a coma in 2013, and woke up at 2029, Your avatar was an ugly bouncing gif, And your videos had no voice over, but HORRIBLE music which made the comments bounce up and down. and the worst of all, my best friend couldn't remember who I was, I'm so grateful you're still here with us making AMAZING tutorials.

I've always enjoyed your tutorials. The only issue I have with this one is the light source. With the tree shadows going from right to left then the moon should be on the right side, and out of frame. Other than that, it was a great tutorial, and very convincing. Keep up the good work!

Super tutorial Howard. Liked the "Blend if" technique. There was one little problem though. When you made the triangle of light that represented the light reflecting off the moon to the earth you were treating the moon as though it existed 20 feet above the trees. Of course, the moon is a large object 240,000 miles from the earth and its light is not tri-angled when it hits the ground. Just like the sun's light, the moon's light shines everywhere from all points in the sky. So all the trees in the image would have received moon light. Small point. Loved the tutorial though and will use its techniques to improve my Photoshop skills. Thanks Howard!!

Hey Howard. Love your vids, but just a little tip: You can use Alt + Rightclick and drag or Opt + Cmd (I think) and drag to change brush size and hardness. Makes it a lot smoother to change brush size :-)

Great tutorial. I just think the moonshine triangle couldve been a bit better, because a triangle is not the optimal shape for lighting, a bit more highlight in the upper part of teh trees would be better.

I also agree about the blue tint. Also those streetlights are pretty weak, think it would be nice if they would cast some kind of beam of light on the ground. Otherwise cool effect!

And the moonbeam should not light the front side of the trees, because its coming from behind them. Despite all that, its a really good tutorial which shows a lot of important techniques that will help anyone trying to create this kind of effect, you just have to go a bit farther. (I've noticed that in a lot of Howard's tutorials, the final result does not look exactly like his example, as if he worked another hour tweaking and adjusting the example).

Personally, I wouldnt have put in the moon. The original image has shadows that strongly suggest where the light source is (over to the right). I would have replaced the sky with stars, and painted highlights on the trees. Also I would have painted areas around the lamp posts, so they interact with the surroundings a little more. Nice to see how you did it non the less!
