Your tutorials are not only easy to follow at a nice pace but clear and really inspiring. I hope you are still working for spoonflower, because you are a great asset to their company. I have watched an incredible amount of photoshop tutorials and they are all geared towards techie viewers, not those of us who are more visual. Thank you!

Thank you for this tutorial! I made 3 tea towels for Christmas. Would you by chance consider making a tutorial on how to make pillows from FQ's like these with say someone's head? I would love to make some for my kids but I haven't the slightest idea on how to do the Photoshop part to get the photos the same size.

I noticed today that the Tea Towels ordered already sewn from their Roostery.com site have a tiny ribbon stitched across one top corner on the back, for hanging it up in the kitchen. Nice!

Theresa, I just finished my tea towel project. I'm so excited to share a photo with you specifically. I can't see where or how to do that. I looked at regular Spoonflower FB page, came up emtpy.

Thank you! And thank goodness I can stop the video to keep up with the photoshop instructions! 😊 I wonder if I could just use the ScannerPro app on my phone instead of a flatbed scanner? I would assume so...much easier and faster for me. I can save as a jpeg hopefully! 👍🏻

late to the party, but yes, I use HP smart format A4 at 300dpi the file as it is can be altered in Office/MS pictures and fits a yard (150dpi) and then you can alter the print from the website to fit the format you like

Did I miss it? There is no mention of stay stitching the edges and washing the fabric first. Do I not need to do that with this particular fabric? Thanks.

Hello! Thank you so much for the tutorial. I don't understand something. She says at 6:57 minutes: if you want to design more than just one, at this size, you can get up to four recipe tea towel on a full yard. So is she saying that if I select 1 fat quarter size, I will be able to make 4 tea towel for 12,60$ or that if I select 1 yard (54 inches width) I will be able to make 4 tea towel? Because if I buy 1 yard (36 inches) by 54 inches width, how would I be able to make 4 tea towel (27x18" each)? Is she talking about smaller size tea towel? Thank you so much.
@spoonflower7 жыл бұрын
Éléna, you can absolutely get four fat quarters on a yard! For linen cotton canvas-using Photoshop-you would create a new canvas sized 54"W x 36" H. Duplicate your original 27" x 18" tea towel 3 times, and place them in your new canvas. They should all fit in there. If you need more assistance, feel free to reach out to Help@Spoonflower.com

Help! I tried the above but Photoshop won't let me make a canvas larger than 50"! HELP!!!
@spoonflower7 жыл бұрын
bluequilt56, Along the top navigation, if you click on 'image' the on 'canvas size,' you should be able to size up to 54". It could be that your computer doesn't have enough free space to process that file size, but that's less likely. Let us know if this doesn't work!

Éléna, I also got hung up on the "fat quarter" and couldn't find a reference. I don't know where the "fat" comes from still, but they're referring to a quarter-Yard of fabric as it comes off a roll (the width is a constant.) Ordering a yard of fabric (spun off the roll) would give us four fat quarters.

I have never dealt with Photoshop in my life. Is there a way for someone to create a document of instructions rather than watch the video? I get lost trying to find what I need to do and have to keep rewinding the video. Thank you.

Help! I wish it was as easy for me as others, but it's just not and I'm stuck. I go to do the duplicate layer and it tells me that I cannot do it because the source and destination documents are the same? TIA

I would like to take photos and create a fabric panel to be cut apart to make a quilt. Do u have any videos to view on this.
@spoonflower7 жыл бұрын
Jackie, that sounds like a great idea! We don't have any videos on this specifically, but if you upload your photo to your computer and then upload to Spoonflower (www.spoonflower.com/designs/new) you should be able to get an idea of the sizing of the image and how you would need to scale it to achieve multiple panels based on the size you want your quilt to be. Feel free to reach out to help@spoonflower.com for more assistance!

I received my printed tea towel fabric today. A little card that was included said to "Wash the fabric first". Is this necessary? I had 12 towels printed on 3 yards of fabric. I don't want to put all that in my washing machine, nor do i want to wash cut pieces for fear that the edges will fray. Will someone please advise? Thanks.
@spoonflower6 жыл бұрын
Hey Ruth - we recommend washing first because the fabric will shrink just a bit. So if you're going to finish the towels, we'd recommend pre-washing. If you're worried about fraying, but don't want to finish the edges, you could always use a pinking blade or shears to keep your towel fray-free!

The duplicate layer step would be so much simpler if you just make a new layer below the recipe; select an area inside the guidelines (selection should snap); then fill Selection with white. Also check that recipe's background is white (scans are not necessarily black at 0 RGB and white at 255). If not, select recipe and apply Levels.

I am having trouble viewing my guides, I see the ruler, but the guide does not show when I try to highlight. I have looked at all the forums, cant find an answer.

A solid white would stand out as a blank. The original scan BG shows the faint lines of the paper and some artifacts.

Thumbs down. Not everyone wants to pay a monthly sub for Adobe Photoshop. Why not show us how to do it in a free well polished graphics program like Gimp, then everyone can benefit from the tutorial.

Sorry Joan, I'm afraid not -- the only way to have recipes printed on fabric is to upload them to your Spoonflower account and place an order. It's quick and easy, just create an account here to get started: www.spoonflower.com/get_started
