Education is key but unfortunately most average consumers don't care to learn the different things that make up a TV. They don't care about LCD vs OLED. They don't care about full array local dimming. They don't care about refresh rate or response time. They just look at 3 things: 1. Screen size. 2. Price. 3. Brand name.

But how often are you buying a new TV? Or did your TV somehow get better? I get that the tech has improved and gets a little better year over year, but not everyone wants to replace a large TV every year or two just because there's some new tweak. I have an 11 year old Samsung that is still as crisp and gorgeous as it was new. Some processor or something is starting to flake out so it may only have a couple years left in it, more if I can fix it, but I plan to use it as long as possible. No one has ever complained and friends' newer ones look and function the same. Anyway, I asked because in comments on videos like these, I see a lot of people talking about replacing their TVs every 1-3 years because they think they need that next tweak that doesn't really change anything. Obviously, there will be differences between the one I got in 2013 and the one I'll eventually get. But I can't imagine anything so earthshattering happening in a year or two to justify buying a new one that often. (Just occured to me: maybe it's the disposable phone mentality. Cellphone makers and carriers have convinced people they have to replace them every year [started by the "free" subsidize phones via carriers] and I've been seeing that mentality bleed into other goods. Some folks seem to think they have to constantly churn everything they own to keep up with some imaginary standard.)

The motion on a Sony OLED TV can have a lot of stutter, judder while watching sports. I think that the key to great motion is to activate the, "XR motion clarity" on the Sony OLED A90J. Years ago Sony made a 900F and one of the feature was the X-Motion Clarity. The way how to activate it was to set Motionflow to custom, smoothness to 1, and clearness to 1 CineMotion to high from what I remember. The result was the 900F began to transform the picture quality were it was like a great TV.

@@SpikedSilver brother I just figured that out too lmao. I was doing the same thing. Did not realize you have to go into settings for each hdr, sdr and dolby to turn off trumotion. Hope our comments help someone else lol. The way I fixed it was opening the video trumotion was on then pressing the settings button on the remote. Picture > Advanced > Clarity > Trumotion off for anyone who comes across this

Can you give us an update if Sony has moved the bandwidth to 40 or 48gbps on ps5? Is important to know if we have to buy the C2 (48gbps) or can go with cheaper C1 or G1 which are only 40gbps and if could be enough for PS5 future firmware updates(12bit covarage) etc ..

I actually love the smoothing. It's different.

You won't get it at the movie theatre or watching movies on your phone, laptop or tablet, thankfully! Motion smoothing sucks, and ruins the natural 24FPS frame rate of films.

I like it turned off. Just watched a horror movie with motion flow the other day. It was hilarious. Although few videos such as natural scenes look good with it, l don't like this feature.

For Sony Oled, I use custom with smoothness at 1. It is the sweet spot for me. Sony used to do better but they are still good.

I used to light motion smoothing but now I find it cheapens the picture and makes it look artificial. I don't mind cinematic movement though, as long as there isn't any noticeable interpolation
