Scam. It’s just a “Buy our lenses” scam. Why would you buy name brand sunnies with top end lenses designed to be OPTICALLY PERFECT, very important, for the lens shape and the distance from the eye. This is very difficult for very curved and wide sports lens. The other grave error in this video is that he is assuming, ass out of you and me, that all lenses are plastic. Well the nice high end ones are glass as well as many others. I even have nice glasses that are polly carbonate lenses but in a screwed titanium frame. Can’t snap that shit in and out. An aftermarket lens isn’t designed for the actual frame width but just an average frame width and that effects the neutral point of the lens so it is optically perfect (lens has the same diopter when looking through it no matter where you are looking through the lens) so a plain 0 diopter lens in the wrong spot can be a + or - diopter lens very slightly (your eye will automatically correct this and give you a headache over time from eye strain) especially with very curved sports lenses or looking through the lens off centre, so looking sideways up or down. So this is shit. There is a reason the optician measures the distance between your pupils when getting glasses. You see the glasses come with NO LENSES the company buy those separately from a lens place and you chose what’re lens you want and that lens is actually a big circle of lens about 5 cm in diameter. With the neutral point being right in the middle when viewed perpendicularly to the lens. The lens shape for the frames you chose is then put on the lens blank IN THE CORRECT SPOT FOR THE WIDTH OF YOUR PUPILS and the lens is cut out. So just snapping in a lens, even a plain one, is dodgy at best because the neutral point isn’t right over your pupil. Also your original lens was almost certainly better quality. Polly carbonate lenses ate not created equal. I saw an Oakley test lens after testing. The lens was a USA airforce fidgeted pilot helmet pull down lens that big black or mirrored shield like lens over the front of the helmet. Anyway they, the airforce, shot it with a 10 gauge (I think long ago…) shot gun from very close, just a yard I think. Not one pellet got through. Many pellets were caught in the polly carbonate and extruded like stalactites back towards the face but never far enough to touch the face. Oakley were the only company to pass the test. No one else even came close with most lenses just shattering and becoming just as dangerous as the shot gun. So yeah. Also not all lens treatments are equal. It’s not just a case of adding black pigment to clear polly carbonate to darken the lens either and so on. Is the polarising just a thin application that will wear off sort of quickly or is it within the lens either as a layer or actually in the polycarbonate? Still the lenses tou have are better anyway. If they aren’t then taking your original purchase price plus the 30 bucks for this shit would get you a better product. Polarising isn’t expensive at all. In safety glasses at Bunnings australia the difference is $20 Vs $30 for the same frames. These are optically perfect lenses and swept back and still perfect and are safety glasses so they are strong and the lenses are very strong and fit so that even if debris was to ricochet it won’t get in. So there is your yard stick. Just $10 or $6 usd for polarising in a lens of proven and tested by law to be very good. Also this guy just lied in his video title so that shows the quality of his morals and business practices.
