Tried the update on my phone first and immediately hated it. Avoided the update on my computer like the plague. Until now, I don’t have the option to not use the update anymore, so looked for a way to revert back. Glad I came across this video! You first explain how to use the old view, but then explain how to use the new version. Now that I know, I think I’ll like the new update, but have a peace of mind that I can switch if I change my preference. Thank you!

That's great to hear Christina. I was like you at first. The combined view was overwhelming. But using the filters is like clicking the separate apps. Channels filter to show Teams and Channels. Chat filter to show Chats. It will take some getting used to, but I already find it easier to catch up with conversations in one place.

Sorry, there is no excuse - this update is crap and the Microsoft UI designer who came up with it (and the QA/product teams who approved it for general release) need dragging over the coals. The volume of angry user complaints blaming IT for "making a change" that our Helpdesk team have received over it is in the hundreds already.

I hear you. While I am supportive of the update, I don’t support how it has been rolled out. It was supposed to be optional and only to people / orgs set to receive updates on a targeted release cadence. But it sounds like the update is being pushed to people regardless of these parameters. That’s bad form and as you say, causing huge headaches for IT Support.

@@DarrellaaS Microsoft really need to understand that Teams is becoming such a core productivity hub for users of all levels that they simply cannot make such significant interface changes on a whim - the impact on users (especially those without the technical initiative to work out how to fix it themselves) is simply too large and widespread. The primary function (no matter what MS tell themseleves) of Teams are the direct chat functionality and navigating/monitoring Groups. Interface changes in these areas need to be VERY carefully considered and rolled out.

Absolutely agree. I am using my back channels to share this feed and more, directly with the Teams product group. I work in change management so understand the impact of changes like this. I am preparing resources that organisations can use to communicate and support the change. But if Microsoft have accelerated this change without giving time to prepare and control rollout, it’s going to continue to receive negativity.

@@DarrellaaS @wonderdog8895 Sorry to hear it’s being rolled out to you in a surprising manner! For my understanding, can you elaborate if you/your tenant has opted into Teams preview features? My understanding was that the features should only be available for those that have opted-in, but if that’s not the case I would like to hear more.

You’re welcome. It’s a big change to how we can manage our messages. Some of us aren’t ready for it, or prefer them separate. If we rushed through the coaching bubbles, we may have missed where to change it back.
