How To TURN OFF Your Toyota Screen (Updated version)

Hey everyone! This video will show you how to turn of your screen if you have a Toyota with the new software system that was rolled out for 2023.
Not all 2023 models have this new system so it applies to only those with the wireless CarPlay/AAuto systems.

The worst part is that there's actually a I/O symbol above the volume knob, but pushing it only changes the source from radio mode. Very misleading in my opinion...

Just bought a 2023 Rav. The multimedia book that came with the car says that if you push the volume button in for so many seconds that it will turn off the screen. When I do that it turns off for about 15 seconds then comes right back on for some reason. Any ideas why?

Hi Brian, is it possible to show the navigation map and radio stations list at the same time when not using car play or AA? We like how our 2017 Highlander can separate three different displays and have phone, radio and navigation.

Hello, Yes on the bottom left of the screen the little black Home Screen emblem switches back and forth with the little black apps emblem and you just have to select that Home Screen emblem to activate the divided screen. It should show nav, music, and phone. Let me know if that helps.

Hey you can plug your smart phone in and use Apple CarPlay or android auto and bypass that factory map.

Yes turn the radio off before you turn the car off using the power button there on the screen. And also you can turn the screen off entirely. Setup>display>turn off

i haven't got my new toyota rav 4 yet, a few more weeks...but i'm trying to understand how this screen works. i never use bluetooth. i don't listen to music through my phone. mainly i just use google maps on my phone, messages, phone calls. i don't have any app subscriptions like spotify .... i usually listen to cd's in the car and especially books on cd. and my phone is super cheap, 45 dollars, no space. so the question is...do you sync all your information from your phone to toyota screen? is that how you get a phone call or message? Do your apps sync too? Like if I had a mediation app on my phone would it come up on the toyota screen, is that by using blue tooth? would you suggest it's time to upgrade my phone and apps? is there any way to listen to books through this system? Thanks for any help at all if you have time!

Dark mode activates when your phone activated dark mode, which settings can be changed in your phone settings for when this occurs. When headlights turn on, if phone is light mode it stays light anyway.

Hey so last night I was driving my 23 rav4 and accidentally turned it off while it was still on drive so I quickly pushed to start again, put it on park then turned it off. After that, I realized the screen didn’t turn off and my music kept playing. That’s how I came across this video, I have to turn it off manually. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?? Thanks!

Hey you may have left the car in battery/accessory mode on accident. Without pressing the break pedal, push the start button once or twice till the radio and speedo all turn off and go dark. Hope that helps.

I wish the infotainment system was SMALLER for the 2023 Rav 4. This thing is so big it impedes my view when I'm driving. Being 5'2 it's really hard to see over it and the seat only heightens so much before it stops which doesn't fix the situation. Plus trying to blacken the screen while you're driving is dangerous and having it on just distracts you. This is the only thing I don't like about the Rav 4. Is anyone else having this problem?
