I remember I was at this bar with my friends and they knew one of the bartenders. I had never gone there before. I ordered a Lagavulin 16, but they were out, so I ordered a Laphroaig 10 on the rocks. The bartender refused! There are some notes in Laphroaig 10 that I prefer muted, I know what I want, I'd have had the Lagavulin 16 au naturale. I got my Laphroaig and knicked some ice from a friend. Never went to that bar again.

Haha I had that mispronounced stuff with a liquor store employee the other day actually. He kept saying IS-lay instead of I-Lah. I think he started trying to correct me as he started to over pronounce it when I kept using the correct pronounciation until another employee I knew there, also said I-Lah. He kept listening in as I said other names after that a bit. It was funny. Nice guy and at let me taste The Double Peat. Which a really good blend of Speyside and Islay BTW. This was a cool segment and I know I have found myself asking that question of how to become a rep like that as well.

So new or cool things whiskey would grab their attention right? I was wrong. Turns out they know next to nothing about whiskey once you step outside the two or three biggest/most common brands. Makers, Jameson, Knob Creek, etc. Not that they are bad bottles. I love all 3, especially makers. I'm just sad I thought I'd have a new way to connect with friends and that didn't really work out.
