This worked for me. My large format Epson has sat idle for years! I thought it was basically junk. I tried this before throwing in the towel and happy to say my printer is unclogged and printing beautifully again. Thank you so much for posting this.

Thank you for the easy to follow instructions without a lot of BS in between. I have done this before but sometimes I need a reminder without going through all the hoopla. I did see someone had an issue with breaking the tip of the whatever off. Suggestion is to pick up some small tubing, which I happened to have for a water fountain, and connect from the syringe to the head port. Not only did this allow for flexibility but the tube was clear so I could see if anything was going down the line, allowed me a lot more room to work without being right in the machine and allowed for a softer touch to the tip.

Thank you so much, Miss T. I tried your method on my Epson 1400, which I use for professional photos, but I've not pursued any more photo opportunities since my printer got balky. I had to print a few images & run the Cleaning utility 3 or 4 times. Then, voila, no more nasty stripes on the images. I used a different cleaner recipe that I had already made up (1 pt water, 7 drops dishwasher liquid, 1/8 c. alcohol - just the strength I had on hand, which was 70%). I did have to use my Swiss Army knife awl to stretch the syringe nozzle. I also cleaned the pads using "Ima Thug Yall" 's instructions below. That's a bit tricky, to get all the little bits back into place. Now I'm psyched to use the printer. I think I need to print at least an image a week, to keep it running well.

Pretty good video and info, but while you have the printer open and everything out of the way, you should go ahead and wash your "ink catching" sponge out. It is a long thin foam ink catcher that serves to soak up the ink shot thru the head when people select the "clean printer cycle" and it becomes just soaked in ink becuz Epson designed the system to clean by shooting precious and expensive ink through the head, sometimes taking 2-3 cycles to do its job ??? Its just below where you are placing your length of shop towel, and you remove it "carefully" with some tweezors. Once out take to the kitchen sink and wash it in a small container of warm water with a few drops of dish detergent. It will clean up nice and easy, rinse it out two or three times and dry it on a clean dry dish cloth, or just hang it on something and let it air dry. It is shaped to fit in the pattern it goes it, so not to worry, just put it back exactly like it was when you removed it.

you could also disconnect the tube and run it out the side of the printer into a small squeege bottle . that way you never have to worrybabout getting the end of life message
@sben76337 жыл бұрын
Adding a waste ink tank will not stop the end of life message. This is done by a counter and will still happen when the number of cleanings is reached even if the waste ink tank was added when new
@ladyprintboss7 жыл бұрын
you can call the manufacturer and remedy that. they will guide you thru resetting it

Be really careful not to force the syringe over the ink nozzle. I broke the tip off the nozzle off! I was surprised how easily it broke. I think the syringe was too small. Finding a syringe that fits is a PITA. Not a big deal since I was ready to throw the whole printer off the 25th floor anyhow. But just be warned :D

Thank you, followed your instructions and got the printhead unclogged! There is a strong smell of windex when I print now, (i cleaned it about a month ago) i did the mix of alcohol and windex. Is that always the case or did I go wrong somewhere?

This would surely be a very helpful video if you had shown how to remove the stubborn cover from the ink cartridge carrier, (mine is very stubborn and I'm afraid it's going to break), and a link for the purchase of the syringe, (doctors apparently don't just give those away). Thanks much for the information you did provide.

gary knowles my videos aren't planned. They happen when life happens on the shop. I take my lid off when I purchase my printers and they don't go back on. Normally syringes come with refillable inks. You can always grab syringes from any pharmacy, they keep them in stock . Thanks for commenting!

Miss T, & others: In this video, the printer cartridge cover is missing. Will the printer work without this cover? I can't get the cover off unless I break it! I broke one of the print head nozzles, & I think it would be much easier to replace the printhead, AND to clean the print head, without the cartridge cover. With a cartridge cover, you can't move the print head back & forth unless the cartridge cover is closed.
@ladyprintboss6 жыл бұрын
Peggy Richardson yes it will still Work you have to pop it off
@emmarrichardson60666 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I can't seem to get the cover off, so I was thinking of breaking it (on the right-hand side, which is where the mounting shaft is - I can't get the cover off of that end). I broke the printer head nozzle by being impatient with a really stubborn clog that wouldn't free up after about 4 cleanings, so now I need to replace the print head (about $30 on ebay). Seems probably worth the effort, as even used printers of this model cost upward of $500. From now on, I'll print a photo every single day, to prevent clogs.

I wanted your recommendation for ciss ink where to purchase it
@ladyprintboss5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I originally used the refillable cartridges from Amazon and that works really well, but then I was running through ink alot and it gets messy. I then purchased the CISS system from trytheink.com. In the beginning, the system seemed to work well. After a few weeks I noticed air in the lines and started getting clogs in the ink lines prior to them reaching the printer. I ended up purchasing 2 times from them and finally trashed the system. The lines were cheap and I think it has to do with the flow of the ink. I went back to the refillable cartridges until I purchased my 44in printer. So I would not recommend the one I was using from inkxpro anymore. I have heard that COnde has a good one. I would say try amazon, and read the reviews

@@ladyprintboss I have an Epson 1430 and have been having problems with the black getting clogged, and we have always used the oem inks (iq sublijet) but at $170 a color, it gets very expensive.

@@ladyprintboss I looked on Amazon and a company called inkuten has a new ciss set for the 1430 for sublimation, no reviews yet, have you heard of Inkuten?

@@grannmomm yes it's the same system I was using. I had or have 2 of them. I could have given you, I think I threw them away, 2 days ago or I may have boxed them up. I will look shortly and let you know . If I do I will donate them to you.

@@ladyprintboss Did you not like the stystem or did you change because you don't use your 1430 anymore? We used to have a 1400 epson and went to the 1430 because of wifi, but the black gets clogged very often. Do you recommend not running the cleaning program often, do you feel it waste a lot of ink? Do you like the bypass system for the ink well, and do you like the ink from Inkuten with their system. I know that's a lot of questions, but I'm tired of spending $170 a color for iq sublijet. At least if the new system gets clogged, I'm not out as much money to fix it. I've really enjoyed your videos and may be interested in your pricing program for sublimation, I think that's one of the hardest things things to price. Thank you again.

Hello, I am an idiot! I used this method the clean what I thought was a clogged nozzle, but it turns out the refillable cartridge was empty. The refillable cartridges I use do not let me know when I am out of ink, so when I get what looks like a clogged nozzle I need to check the refillable cartridge first. Duh I say, DUH!
