Step by Step DTF Epson L1800 Printer Manual Head Cleaning

To all DTF Epson L1800 users, please learn and skill this Manual Head Cleaning method. It will help you save plenty of MONEY and TIME.
Before DTF printing technology, I use the Epson L1800 printer for my Sublimation and Photo Print job.
During that time, I am really scared to do Manual Head Cleaning. So, when the printer faces a clog issue that can't solve by performing head cleaning from Epson Drive, I need to bring it to the supplier place for repair.
The labour charges for repairing is High and it also takes a few days for that. Then all my job will be stuck. The worst is they keep asking me to change the print head. Yes. I agree that changing a new print head can solve the problem but it is very costly. Most of the time, can't earn back the cost of a replacement new print head.
As we know, DTF printers need more maintenance than usual. It is no choice for me to learn and master the skill. Then I only realise that all my previous replacement is unnecessary. Just perform the Manual Head Cleaning, then the clog issue can be solved. Inside this video, we also show you how to clean the Print Head Viper and Ink Capping Station where many people forgot about these two important parts.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
Just use enough FORCE to push the cleaning liquid through the print head. Over FORCE may damage the print head parts
With better ink quality, the frequency of clog issues may reduce. This statement is made based on my test result from 6 different DTF ink manufacturers.

Hi Henry, I follow the steps in your video flushing all the inks from the print head and put it all back. But now when I on my printer, it will start doing head cleaning then end with two simultaneous blinking lights on the ink symbol and paper symbol. On and off printer few times also the same and printer cannot print... Checked in Google and few youtube videos from others, they said the rod is dirty and need to be cleaned. I cleaned the rod and still the same. I am stuck now... Can you advise on what might have gone wrong?

Look like the waste ink counter indicates full. Get Epson Adjustment Program to reset the counter

I just purchased a L1800 last week. I couldn't get it to print white. I did the manual head cleaning like you suggested. It worked for 1 print. It was perfect. Below is my practice to keep the printer healthy. 1) Daily Maintenance ( Please watch the video inside playlist ) 2) Only perform manual head cleaning when method 1 can not solve the problem. We must have correct mindset in this printing industry as below : NOT all DTF supplies ( Ink, Pet Film & Powder ) are the same. The only same is their physical foam. Hello Henry. I have a L1800 printer and no matter what I did I couldn't unclog the magenta color. I don't think the problem is caused by the clogged head anymore. Because when I clean with software, sometimes 10 pores are clogged, sometimes 5 pores. When I clean it many times, magenta opens, I get 5-10 prints, but then it gets clogged again. Could this problem still be caused by the clogged head? Or could it be another problem? By the way, I usually do the head wash with isopropyl alcohol. Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally i try more than 5 suppliers of dampers when i face thia problems. From there i learn that all look a same. But the quality and performance may varies. Change print head is the last option because it is too costly.

When this happens to me, I will check the healthy of the damper. Damper is a consumable part for the printer. My printer nearly 2 years old and each color damper already change 2 or 3 time but print head still good.

My blue ink is the only color that gone. I did first cleaning like what you have showed, and it was fixed. Unfortunately, the color next to it, red that never a problem before is missing. I tried clean, head cleaning still the same. So i have done second cleaning, for all colors but now both blue colors gone. I really lose hope with this printer 😩

I cleaned my print head and refitted and now I can't power the printer, it is not turning on. I am wondering if I damaged the power board when I removed the power cable to move the print head into the centre.

As mention inside the video, when doing the flush must be careful. Don't let the liquid wet the print head mother board.

@@HenryTeoh I read on FB that a guy had similar issue when the cable was attached to the print head so I took the cable out and the power came back on. I think it was in at the wrong angle as I now have power but the head is still not printing. I used a standard print head ink cleaning kit off eBay, do I need to use a special DtF kit instead? Going to try and give it a go in the ultrasonic cleaning machine I ordered.

Usually the liquid I use is in turquoise color. If the liquid is a transparent color is for wet the print head will not using.

This printer is a disaster. I spent 6hrs cleaning nozzle, flushed damper, shake the ink tanks, cleaned the print head and it still doesnt print white perfectly. Mine is only 2 month old and its trash.
