Wow so this actually works? I may have to try this tomorrow when the water finally goes out. My cousins destroyed the drain. It was working fine a week ago. An than came back from the lake and they got it so disgusting that it takes HOURS to drain like nearly 24 hours. I spent at least 8 hours in the bathroom taking a plunger hoping it would go down. An it rarely ever did. So I got tired of doing that and just put a roll of paper towels into it to soak all that nasty water up. I can't wait to try this out. Hopefully a clown doesn't get me at the end of that drain lol

This worked well. I bought an "old school" plunger ($2.67 at Walmart) and think I found an effective solution to the "rag in a bag" plug for the vertical opening under the faucet. I used three strips of Gorilla tape, however duct tape might be as effective, over the hole after removing the chrome plated cover. In doing so I was able to generate maximum pressure for breaking up the clog. On some tubs the device under the faucet serves a dual function: drain stopper and air intake. On my tub, it is simply for air intake to allow the water to drain more quickly from the tub. That said, once you believe you've effectively cleared the clog, the rate of draining will increase once the tape, or plug, is removed from the hole beneath the faucet.

Thank you so much!!! Have been dealing with tub drain problems for years. The strongest drain opener did nothing to solve the problem. I could not get the auger past around the bend. I watched your video yesterday and last night, to help things along, poured Dawn dish soap and hot water to work overnight. This AM, it took a few tries with the plunger, but busted open the clog!!!! I am guilty of having used too many solid state products… bar soap, coconut oil, Shea butter, etc. Will now not apply those in the shower! My freaking hero. Thanks for this video. I've been plunging the drain for two days, bought a snake, drano, and exasperated, I look on KZbin. This solved the problem, first try. Great video.

Tried this. In the end I went disconnecting the piping underneath the bathtub. I had to insert a 2" hose down the pipping to clean all the moist black gunk that was in there. It was sticking inside the pipe walls, no plunger could help. Not even hair, just gunk. Even two bottles of heavy duty Drano couldn't help.

That plugging trick with the towel and plastic bag was the key. I tried to plunge and after what felt like concrete got dislodged, the water flowed like it never did before. Thank you for sharing

Omg!! Thank you!! It worked!! I can shower tonight!! My tub has been plugged slow draining for two weeks. I've waited to see if the "man" of the house would get around to fixing it. One week in he says is it because of your hair? What?! No. Because it gets caught in the drain and i clean it out. I realize he's been manscaping in the shower!! Well he had the nerve to do it again today. And i said how am i going to shower he told me to bucket out the water and clean it he doesn't have time. So I am STILL "the man" my side friend who is actually a plumber will be proud. You're awesome. So glad I found you🙏 ok, off to 🚿 now

This video is over 9 years old but I just wanted to let you know this single handily saved my tub. Long story but we got a bunch of kitty litter down or drain and nothing was touching it. Not a snake, not boiling water and vinegar/baking soda literally nothing! After watching this video I got some old socks and shoved them in a plastic bag to plug up the over flow and plunged the drain. Only took a few pumps and the drain made the most glorious rushing water sound and everything went down. Time to clean up the mess and take a shower with out the tub filling up! ❤

Thank you, sir. I can't remember the last time I heard my tub draining sound like that. It sounded like a mini whirlpool or something. That plunger tip worked almost immediately.

***** I use a plastic one. it still gets gross pretty quick but it just looks like soap scum.. I guess I reacted to the brown color mainly haha

Haha that's called "lilac dandelion white"! I don't think there is no perfect shower curtain. Maybe I'll install some glass doors. 😎
