We had hoped that vitamin D supplements would prevent breast cancer, but the studies have not born this out. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with other problems but not with breast cancer.

Thnxxxx,she had cyberknife on brain mets after 3 months we do MRI brain mets size r shrink BT still there n all the remaing brain is safe now oncologist continue lepatinib plus capacitabine I asked one question is this brain mets r curable n this method of treatment is good?? Bec her cbc, lft, n rft almost clear just uric acid level is 6.4 and Ast 52, Alt 50 and alkaline phosphate is 120 very little range exceed kindly give ur opinion on this situation

We ,it's true are told to put on sun screen to stop skin cancer. We have all been doing that for 30 years, so why skin cancer the most common cancer and particularly in the young, in short sun screen has had no! Impact on skin cancer, so I disagree with this hypothesis, I believe vitamin d in hi doses will if addressed seriously will arabicate many cancers and big pharmaceutical know this.

Thank you so much for writing with these important questions. You are correct that the incidence of skin cancer is increasing. There is moderate evidence that behavioral counseling reduces the risk of skin cancer. It is particularly important in children and adolescents reduce exposure to UV light to reduce the risk of skin cancer later in life. One reason that such counseling is only moderately effective is because many of us do not use broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun-protection factor of 15 or greater correctly. For example, sunscreen needs to be applied an hour before exposure and reapplied often. Other things that people can do is to wear a hat with a wide brim, to use sunglasses (may reduce the risk of ocular melanoma) or sun-protective clothing. In addition, avoiding sun exposure, seeking shade during midday hours (10 am to 4 pm), and avoiding indoor tanning bed use may all decrease the risk of not only skin cancer but other effects of the sun, such as premature aging of the skin. You can see how difficult it is for people to follow these guidelines!
