Can't thank you enough, I tried following other guides on this topic but couldn't make sense of any of them, this is the first video that took me step by step and was easy to follow. My Alienware RTX 3060 was getting very hot, and the portion of the laptop near the monitor hinge was so hot it almost burned my finger. This was playing games like Cyberpunk 2077. After doing all the Throttlestop changes, now the metal is actually much cooler to the touch and with no performance issues.

just a heads up, make sure under "Save Voltage Changes to Throttle Stop" On the bottom right corner you check the box "Ok Save immediately". or you will loose your changes when you close out.

Hold shift to highlight your voltage range on the curve, after adjusting a lower voltage to your target frequency. The target frequency for the lowest voltage on your curve must be above the remainder of the curve. If you hold shift + click, dragging over, then hit apply, it will straighten the entire curve from the low voltage point you adjusted to the target frequency. Saves a lot of time, rather than tediously adjusting each voltage along the curve.

I know a workaround they do for RYZEN CPUs (specifically the g14 due to it’s size) would allow you to completely disable the CPU’s ability to boost at all. My Ryzen 5800HS went from 93C to 73C.

The 10875h seems to have a lower undervolt range. A safe value would be around 50 mV. You still can try with -100 mV but then if you got blue screen just got back to -50 mV. I'm still not sure if -50 mV is gonna do something noticeable.

@ I don't know why Intel would have disable undervolting and still allowing us to under-clock it. Manufacturers can lock CPU settings but I don't think Alienware is doing it. In any case, you won't see much a different by just applying undervolt. And especially, on the m15 which one got a smaller cooling unit. You should adjust CPU clock.

The max OC for benchmark like 3Dmark is +192 Mhz on core clock and + 500 MHz on memory for me. (gives me better results than 3080 "maxQ") But those values are not stable in games like COD. The stable value for all games is +125 MHz on Core + 300 MHz on memory. (applies only on GPU RTX 2070 Super since I have an i7 that can't OC.)

So I am not sure if something was pushed out as I've a few thermal related updates, but I put everything back to stock/disabled ThrottleStop and the balanced mode now actually kicks up the fans. Lately I have been experiencing a lot of fps drops and high temperatures. I have a Dell G3 gaming laptop spec: i7 10750h1660ti 512SSD and 16gb of ram. So I downloaded the software throttlestop; however I can't change the cpu voltage or Turbo Boost Ratios. These are locked for some reason.

Unfortunately, some models are locked. However, you still can physically cahnge the thermal paste between CPU, GPU and the heatsink to avoid overheatiing and fps drops. For regular gaming laptop user, this maintenance need to be done at least every year.

What thermal profile were you using? And with stock paste, -90.8mv on core and cache, in prime95 running at 3.6Ghz using 71.5watts on package average, and running it for 2 minutes on performance mode got me to 91c. Is that alright?

If you can't use throttlestop, check Bios settings maybe you have and overclock or performance menu to undervolt there.

I agree that Dell's product are mostly interesting for the On Site 1y included warranty. That being said, it works as all other brand. I had 0 issues with it. Like everything, you can be unlucky and get a defective unit but it concerns 5 or 10% of consummers. In any case, you should be able to return if any problem.

Hi thanks, unfortunaltely, if it's like mine (300Hz too) the dispay is physicaly connected to the 3060. Which means there is no optimus for power saving. I don't know if Alienware implemented a GPU switch on R4 but there's nothing you can do. The best battery si along with 144 Hz panel I believe. Still stuck with 1 hour battery XD.

It seems like some manufacturers lock CPU settings. Sometimes you can unlock in BIOS, sometimes you can't. Throttlestop is the best way to acces this, since XTU need to be manually restart.

Hi !! It depends on which game. Every games doesn't support the same overclock. ex: Warzone will only take +125 MHz (clock and +300 Memory) in my case. As with Apex Legends I can go up to +190 MHz on CLock and + 500 MHz on Memory. Som other games, will jsute not run with overclock. But in all case, put + 125 MHz core and + 300 MHz Memory, you should be fine :)

Hey ! Except trying to tweak fan speed using custom profile in Command Center, there's nothing to do. :( It seems to occur when fans are barely audible, so maybe just increase them a little bit or use cool mode when not gaming.

@@cyclo16hacks Not for me, it occurs almost constantly even on quiet mode or using the fan settings you suggested. Very rarely do the fans completely shut off and I can't hear it. I can't get the fans to go any lower than 50% so the noise is always happening. I don't mind it while gaming to be honest because I wear headphones anyway, but being able to sit on the couch and watch a movie or sleep with a podcast on is something I need to be able to do with my laptop, and right now I have a constant migraine from this stupid f***ing noise :(

@@cyclo16hacks Hey dude, I actually solved the problem with the M17 R3 whistling noise. It's not the fans at all, it's the case. You can almost completely remove the whistling by popping off the bottom of the case and putting a bit of electrical tape over the four little wires that cross over each fan---you'll see what I mean when you look inside. You don't need to do anything more than pop off the back. After putting some electrical tape over the wires, the sound is almost completely gone while at idle and temps are running 35-45C when on full speed so there is no impact to the temperatures whatsoever. It's just a very bad case and not coil whine or bad fans at all.

Can you check "Unlock Adjustable voltage" in Throttlestop ? I've seen some people saying that after the latest BIOS update undervolt is locked ... so if you did this update this is why. And I'm not sure you can roll-back. Else, you still can play with the turbo ratio ?? If not, go in windows advanced power setting and set the maximum CPU perf to 99%. It will disable turbo. You'll loose quite a lot of FPS but it will reduce T° by 20°C.

@@vrushodharv1004 the undervolt is not meant to make a significant changes even if it does something ... If you want to see a real improvement you need to make a compromise between temperature and performances with the ratio. This is the only way. You need to find the ratio that stay stable and don't throttle.

Well, maybe I missed something but to me, Command Center don't let you control freely the CPU. There is in fact nothing to do on it. The only thing command center allow is GPU positive overclock, fan speed and audio settings (RGB, macros etc ..too). The application is great, but not enough for deeper optimization.

But you still can try to reduce it slowly. like 0.5 to 0.45 to 0.4 to 0.35 etc etc and if there is no blue screen or crash during test then keep trying in negative. That's what I would do. But, it's your device ... your risk. Can't know if acer did some internal tweak. :/

It happens that some laptop settings are locked by manufacturers. If you slide down the ratio and then it doesn't show any changes, maybe it is locked. (try run the program as administrator again) but ... can't tell you more. There are probably other thing you can try like go in BIOS to unlock but it depends on your specific laptop model.

Is it normal for the fans to not be on at all sometimes i noticed unless im in a heavy load they are at 0 percent in control center in the balanced fan mode with cpu and gpu temps around 60-70c,,,, other times once the fans kick on they will setlle around 30/40 split even at lond periods of idle

It is normal if you are not on full speed or performance mode. Then the temps will keep stacking up slowly, so they will turn on after a while to cool down.
