How to UNLOCK digital MPH for a MK2 Leon 1P1 using OBDeleven

Appreciate the positive feedback mate 👍🏻 yeah took me long enough to realise it was possible on the MK2 Leon 🙈 Do you have OBDeleven, Carista, or vagcom? I'm looking to do a vid on other settings that can be adjusted through the OBD port & the app.

Tried this several times with my Touran 2011 Japan import using Carista, it didn’t work.

@@adrian4jc sorry to hear that. Was there a certain setting or option that was missing on Carista that meant you couldn't do each step, or something in the MFD that was different?

I have followed every single steps in other videos to change the cluster country in Australia in which I manage to save, however on the said video , after pressing the button save it displays all the list of units(miles, gallons, etc) that are being changed. I am using the latest Carista software.

Try 'rest of world' as the country, and save. Then double check that 'Alt.speed' is not selected (no tick) 'Digital speed' should now be an option under the 'MFD data' option, if you tick this option. If 'digital speed' isn't shown as an option, I'm not sure why it's different from the Leon. I hope this works for you 🤞🏻

thanks for posting this video. I have the same vehicle in yellow whoop whoop !!! and i asked my garage if there was a way of getting my digital readout speed to be in mph instead of kph but they couldnt do it. I have ordered an OBDeleven for myself in order to correct this issue. Wish me luck lol . Also could you point me in the right direction on fitting a touch screen 2 din that will replace the current built in stereo/cd player with google maps etc. Not sure if any later vw head units are a straight swap and work with the steering wheel controls and excisting usb and aux outputs in console ?

Hey Martin, excellent choice of car and colour u have there then 😂👍🏻 Good to hear ur making the investment into OBDeleven, a very handy bit of kit. As for double din head units, I'm not 100% clued up on them, buti believe Xtrons do one for the VAG lineup, there's also a RCD 510 out of the golf, I think that has apple car play, and is supposedly a straight swap. To be sure though, the 'MK2 Leon owners club UK' has a lot of owners doing the upgrade. If u use the search function on the Facebook group page, you'll find all the relevant information 👍🏻

Hi, Do you know which setting is required for automatic folding and unfolding of wing mirrors when the key fob is pressed?

It will be in the 'electrics' control module somewhere. I can't access my OBDeleven at the moment, but if you have a scroll through it should be there. Your car will have to have motorised wing mirrors for the function to be available, as some mirrors are just motorised for the mirror glass, and not the whole wing mirror unit (twist mechanism)

Yes I don't see why it shouldn't. With it being 2012, you'll have the same dashboard as I do 👍🏻

I believe it's from 2009 onwards, as before that the displays were smaller and slightly different. I you have the same MFD as this then it should work no probs 👍🏻

is there a way to make this on first thing you start the car up? mine is defaulting to the Bluetooth screen

I'm not sure why yours is changing back to the Bluetooth screen each time. My one just goes to the screen I had it on last when I switched off the car. I'm not aware of a setting that might be making that happen, sorry I can't offer any help

From what I've read elsewhere Xander, I don't think it is. Some go to the bother of fitting facelift dials to their cars, but it's a lot of expenses I think due to auto electricians needed to programme it all and code it in.

Nice I’ll get this mod on I have the OBDELEVEN unit. do you know how too make fog lights flash at the same time as you flash high beam. So they work together. I’ve seen this mod before but no instructions 🤔thanks

Hi, cheers for watching. Yes there is an option on one of the menus (9min 47secs in the video) 3rd option down - fog light with high beams. Mine did say active (not ticked) but it hasn't worked for me. There may be another setting that needs activated too, but not sure, sorry. Thank you for commenting 😊👍🏻

Not with the OBDeleven I've got, as my version is an older one. The newer versions require a subscription service (pro/ultimate) but you might be able to adjust these settings in the video without the need for a subscription. @@NorthCoastWorkshop After more research the first generation and second generation both have "One-Click applications" which is all you need to activate features. As you explain in another video, credits are needed which is what they call "additional digital content". Thanks for your help!

Only if you have that same size screen as in the video I'm afraid. There was a red version of the same size, which should display mph also, but then an older style screen that was smaller and showed less information, which I believe doesn't work with this modification. Hope that helps

Why are there two speedo displays, one displaying MFD and the other isn't - as shown in your video.

I'm not sure what part you mean, at what time in the video is it? It will say MFD at the top when you're looking at the 'MFD data' like mpg / average speed / time driving, but then if you scroll across you'll see Audio at the top, or navigation, or settings depending on what option you want to view.

If you change wheel size, can this be altered, eg, 18"to 16 " ?

The speedometer, I think, works out the speed from the abs rings on the hubs, so putting on smaller alloys may give a slightly incorrect mph speed. Sadly Not something that can be adjusted in the OBDeleven settings I'm afraid. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
