It means your phone isn't correctly in fastboot mode

I am getting an error when trying to backup ta partition using backup ta v9.11. It recognises phone and starts backing up after choosing 1 then y but when it gets to PACKAGE BACKUP, it comes up with '..\tools\zip.exe ' is not recognized as an internal operable program or batch file ***Backup unsuccessful ***, it creates a backup file in the ta backup folder but it is empty. I am running a stock rooted xperia z ultra with the appropriate drivers installed. Any ideas?

Hey aishwin.... I bought the sony product (sony xperia sp) first time... My question is why in this sony we need to do all these things like bootloader unlock and even it dont have stock recovery mode... I had samsung s2 and galaxy grand i never need to go in these unlocking and relocking bootloader stuff to install custom roms like CM or MIUI.. I simply flashed it via recovery and done in samsungs... Plz clear.. And does htc and lg also has same unlocking bootloader and stuff??

sony...lg and HTC have locked bootloders because they are more close to stock android and have security while samsung is close to developers

nayair Malik HTC unlocks their bootloaders. I haven't had a HTC device that i couldn't unlock the bootloader easily from htcdev.com

Hi, I need help. I have Backup from TA partition so I can restore is and get the DRM functional again. But I thought that restore is easy just to pick restore from the menu then choose the particular restore and hit Y = yes. The restoration process thru the TA-Backup went ok and every message says that the restoration process was successfully. Then I restarted phone and wend to the service menu to check if the bootloader is locked but its still unlocked. Do I have to have stock rom and even the stock recovery and afted that I should restore? Or what do you think? Thank you

Don't you have it the wrong way around? The whole idea I thought was to backup that TA partition _first_ then unlock the bootloader. You see, the way I understood it is that once the bootloader is unlocked the phone destroys the DRM keys. Unfortunately I know of no way to prevent it from doing that if a bootloader is unlocked on one of these because to modify anything in the phone if it was at all possible you usually need root access and an unlocked bootloader. There is a problem with all of this on Android 7 until the find a root method (even a temporary one) that will keep the door open just long enough to get in there and rescue the keys.

This did not work for me, when I donwloaded the file from Sony the only file I got was android_winusb.inf. So I tried with your file in the description, and got as far as Step 16(Command did not succeed) . I am on Xperia Z ultra (Android 4.4.2 532) might be different to Xperia Z1. Any tips would be appreciated =D
