How To: Unpack Wild Gears

Woo Hoo !!! My Wild Gears package got delivered today. It is taking me forever to get all the papers off of the 5 sets I ordered. I found the easiest way to start to remove the paper from each piece, is to take a straight pin, using the very pointy part, and just lightly poke it into the paper trying not to poke too hard, and then I can pick up the paper with the point of the pin to get it started. I can hardly wait now to get going on this. Have to say, it was also packaged very well.

I prefer the push-up method which you first show. I did this with my full page set and it kept all the small pieces on the sticky paper, avoiding losing any of the doughnuts. Though the smaller gears were easier to do, I didn't have problems with the large ones, just avoided uneven pressure from the bottom so that the gear didn't bend in any way. Thanks for the tips. Nice to see a new video.

My iPad was the perfect weight for peeling the paper off but I could not get it off of the tiny rings so I have left it on. I'll have to find a zip lock bag to store the pieces in!

How do you keep up with all the tiny pieces. I would just lose them

I store all the small pieces in labeled zip lock bags and keep those bags organized in a larger box. I have also kept the very smallest pieces like the doughnut hoops or the dime sized gears in a small glass jar to keep them in one place and more visible.

A case would be useful to hold all these gears and little pieces... How do you store it?

I keep all the small gears from a gear set in a box or sturdy bag. Scrapbooking supply cases tend to be a good size to hold all the pieces and the frames of the large gear sets and are readily available at craft stores. For storing things other than the large frames I find photo boxes (or other medium sized storage boxes) to be pleasing.

I use one of these containers to store the small and medium gears www.amazon.com/dp/B0078K3ZPM/ref=twister_B06XHD9MS9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 if this link doesn't work look up 'Lunch Blox Salad Kit' container by Rubbermaid. But I use a 4 oz [118mL] container from the same product line for the donuts- easier to get the lid off it than the tiny container the kit includes.
