Watching someone solve a rubics cube doesn't mean you can suddenly solve it yourself- that's the hallmark of a really engaging puzzle. These puzzles are akin to riddles then puzzles. Most good puzzles place all the required things to solve it within your view you just had to figure it out. People that complain that some of these puzzles shown here aren't actual puzzles would have a simple Jigsaw puzzle as there primary example. If someone shows you the solution of a 10-100 piece puzzle, you'd probably know how to solve it. But if someone showed you the solution to a 1000 piece you'd be hard pressed to solve it. I was waiting for the ol' classic: internal centrifugally-activated locking pins. The Allen head on the "set screw" could have been a red herring. It may have been a smooth pin that's friction fitted tightly enough that it won't rattle, but loosely enough that a good spin would pop it out. An interlocking pin would make it harder! Instead of the Allen wrench in the hidden head compartment, put a neodymium magnet on the underside of the cap and make the interlock pin magnetic so you have to use the magnet to push or pull the interlock out of place while spinning the puzzle to move the Allen head pin out of place and free the nut. :)
