Hi Alisa Regarding the holes (from the pocket) in the purple shirt up cycle. I have had some success with this following method: I unravel the serger thread (try not to break it) from the left over scraps, iron it straight, use a single strand thread and a really thin hand needle to sew in the holes that is already there. The reason why I use the serger thread is that it's been washed with the shirt and normally the thread is an exact fit in colour. Also : I absolutely love your channel and all your upcycles and tips. Thanks

Alisa, you are amazing! The preliminary vision of your project and then the steps to bring it all together are truly awesome! And that you can explain it in the simplest terms so we can understand what you are doing is just fantastic. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos. They are great!

I have never liked bust pockets on women's shirts. They feel awkward and are generally useless. The new blue and white shirt looks very fresh.

What a great video! Thank you so much! I have regular shirts (not necessarily men’s) that have been in need of this. And although I have sewn for years I was not confident in doing this at all. ❤😸❤

Have you ever tried crisped mint water for ironing out stitch marks? In Germany you can buy it readily made. But you can also mix ten drops of crisped mint essential oil with one liter of water. Always try in an unvisible spot before. It works magic for getting rid of unwanted stitch marks or pleats.

This is so cute. Looking forward to trying it. I had to cut the collar off my husband's shirt because it was so worn down. Had no idea how I was going to finish the collar. I also liked that you undid the sleeves. Much easier to alter to my size. And I love your sleeve detail! Thank you for this.

I agree - really like to use men's shirts (especially my late husband's) but those pocket stitch marks! On another channel i saw a brilliant idea. Instead of taking out the extea width at the side seams, take it out of the middle of each side. So you'll have a line sewn down the middle of each front panel but that looks much more intentional and even decorative. I haven't done it yet. I'll take the pockets off first. Even if the 'tuck' doesn't entirely take in the pocket area, I think it will be better. Plus if you start at the shoulder and take in the back too you dont have to take in the shoulders and back separately.

Perhaps it would help to run your nail over the pocket holes on the wrong side of the shirt. Maybe you already did that. That way the shiny material will be on the back.

Do you still have the pocket from the purple shirt? you could add it back (or create a new pocket). You could add some embroidery or applique before sewing it on. You really transformed that shirt. I loved th collar and the sleeves

I do... but the original pocket placement looks really odd on my body, because it is way too low for me. I have been thinking about some sort of interesting embellishment, the only problem is - I do like the purple shirt just as it is.. eh, decisions, decisions :) thank you!

Thank you for sharing. I loved the dress shirts especially in the summer with a good belt. I do have a question for you and I make the little girl dresses during DAG time. I find myself frustrated when its time to add the pockets on my gathered dresses. When should I add the PATCH pocket so they are not wonky? I reach out to you because I know you can give me an honest recommendation.
@ThoughtfulCreativity

Irma, hello there! I would put the patch pockets on before you gather the skirt, but keep in mind - when you have a patch pocket on anything gathered - it will stand away from the gathered garment and will pucker.
