The upgrade you did on the wood part of that wicker cabinet inspired me to pull out an ancient can of furniture refinisher and clean up the legs and arms of an equally ancient dining chair. Much improved! It's always been comfortable; now it's comfortable and pretty.

These ideas for flipping wicker are really creative, especially some of the ways you painted them. Thanks for the video Amy! :)

Now that I saw you refurbish the wicker sider table, I think I'll try to apply some of those tricks to a few pieces of older of furniture that we inherited. Thanks for the information.

I have never flipped a piece of rattan, so I needed some ideas and came upon your video. Thank you! I love how you used different techniques so it gives me some ideas for a goodwill piece I purchased for 7.50 It is a small wicker side table that I had no idea how I was going to flip and did not even know where to begin. Yet, I could not pass it up at such an amazing price. Thank you for some great ideas. 👍🙂

I love wicker and have a huge haul up in the barn. I wish I had a air compressor that would blast away the dust. Great job!

I was looking for a video about painting furniture with wicker in it and I found your video. I have had these night stands for many years my husband is tired of them but I like them because they are very roomy. I was thinking about printing them. I’m scared but I will go for it. They are brown (not a pretty brown but something in between brown and dark dark honey. since wicker is everywhere now, do you think it here to stay for a while and what colors are good to do? Thanks so much!!

Can you use the restore a finish on the wicker? I saw you only touched up the wood parts only.
@NicoleAthan-bv2jj Жыл бұрын
Did you put that product on the wicker part as well for the cabinet? Or just the outside (not wicker part?)

Thank you for your video! Why type of paint/stain would you recommend to make an "orangy" sealed wicker chest just a little less orangy or perhaps lightly white or color washed?
@amydillardGypsySoul2 жыл бұрын
Well to cut the orange you'd use blue- so a watered down bluish gray color could help. If it's sealed then maybe a transparent wood stain in a soft cool gray; I'd try the kind with sealer already mixed in. A whitewash/pickling stain will lighten and cut some of the orange because white cools colors down a bit. Good luck!!

Hi! Can I paint wicker furniture that has a varnish or clear seal on it without sanding it? Is there a product that can remove the clear seal on my wicker chairs? They are expensive so I do not want to ruin them! Please advise. Thank you in advance!

Hi! I bought a dresser that is the same exact color/ style of this small dresser. I wanted to know what color of the restore furniture you used?
@amydillardGypsySoul2 жыл бұрын
Mine was in Walnut finish- it's pretty versatile because it's a medium deep, cool brown tone. I think any medium value restorer would work if you already own something- I just stay away from anything extremely dark, light, or red/orange. Good luck! Thanks for watching!!

Great job on the 3 projects. I love the way you explain the process. I'm working on a cute round wicker stool or it can be use as a side table. I'm painting it whitewash, sealing with satin poly and it has 4 feet that I'll paint gold for a pop. It's so cute but I'm flipping it for $35.00. It was given to me...do you think that's a good price?
@amydillardGypsySoul3 жыл бұрын
I think $35 should sell pretty fast-- it's a good price for someone. Or you could ask $40-45 the have a little room to come down if someone wants to negotiate. Good luck!

Hi Amy, I'm new to your channel, I really enjoyed this video. I have a storage box, it's very solid but it has some kind of fake twisted wicker on the outside that pulls towards the orange so I'm not enjoying it very much although it's handy for my small house. I'm a little afraid of painting it because I don't know how whatever it's made of would absorb the paint or not. I'm thinking dry brushing would look like the paint is just sitting on top of that orange finish, I wish I could show you a picture so you could help me out...Watching from Canada....Take care...stay safe...
@amydillardGypsySoul3 жыл бұрын
Hey Martine! Maybe experiment with some watered down paint with just a little color (like blue-gray to tone down the orange) and if it works you can try again with a little more paint in the water to cut down the orange. I'd start with mostly water so you can't mess it up too much then if it looks like it's helping you can increase the paint to water ratio; but still make it a thin wash of color. Good luck!!

I have that exact side table and I really want to whitewash it to give it more of a costal look. I just don’t like the reddish tint of the wood.

I'm starting a project so researching. I may be a ding dong but have no clue what the shape of the end table/side table is called? Then I believe it's rattan & Reed but others say bamboo. I don't think it is bamboo but I obviously could be wrong Oye
@amydillardGypsySoul3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question Ginger- I hear people use many of those terms interchangeably to describe wicker and rattan-style items, but I'm not an expert. I know more about paint and how to paint on almost anything LOL!

That little sewing basket could be a Lloyd loom piece. Manufactured from 1917 until the 1950’s it is valuable and very collectable. Try and do some research on woven pieces, you will then be able to recognise real treasures. Lloyd loom manufactured armchairs, small tables, laundry hampers, sewing baskets, baby cribs and carriages etc. l have a 1920’s armchair, with a lift out sprung seat painted in the original old dusky rose with rose patterned fabric.
@amydillardGypsySoul3 жыл бұрын
Oh thanks for sharing that! I do try to research things a little before I paint them, so I won't "ruin" something of value. The larger basket has a label that says Dritz and didn't seem to be collectable, but I didn't find any clues about the small woven one. It was pretty wobbly because it's not in great condition structurally. I'll try to learn more about Lloyd loom; I appreciate the pointer! Thanks for watching!
