I just upgraded from OpenTX 2.3.15 to EdgeTX 2.9.1 and I just used the Companions to first save the models in a file with OpenTX and then just loaded them up in EdgeTX Companion. Worked as well. ;)

Been out of the hobby for 3 years now and just am getting back into it, I just followed the directions on the edgettx site from switching from open to edge and went straight to 2.9.1 and used the instructions they give, and uploaded my model profiles from my backup bin file through the companion and plugged in two of my quads and they armed, not sure if I’m missing anything yet or if there has been an update since this video, thank you for your content just Subscribed

I updated my TX16s last week. I'm very happy with the new features and appearance. Big caution for anyone updating with SD connected directly to a Mac computer. Be sure you have a backup written to your drive, NOT AN ALIAS which is just a pointer to the files on your SD. I managed to replace all my folders with the mostly blank ones in the update instead of merging; so no models, settings etc after the update. Since my "backup" was really just a pointer is was now just as empty as the SD folders. Fortunately, all 5 planes were based on one generic setup and a few hours later everything worked. One good thing was that at the same tome time I added some of John's ideas to my overall setup. But again the CAUTION......BE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD BACKUP (or 2) BEFORE YOU UPDATE.

Had a mild chuckle regarding the iOS thing as it reminded me of my aunt who during one of her daughters Weddings approached for a copy of the recordings, I took onto her laptop which I gladly accepted until she whipped out her Mac and no one knew how to get stuff transferred from the Camera to that piece of crap... Apparently _everyone_ on her side of the family was using Mac but not a single soul knew how to transfer stuff from one to the other unless it was via say Mail which wasn't gonna fly for gigabyte sized video files. A few years later a similar situation happened when the daughter of my mother's friend got into art school and instead of buying a Windows Machine went with an Apple instead because reasons and again no one could figure out how to get a Picture of a Submission onto the darn thing AND then send it to the teacher and when she somehow did manage to send the picture she instead just send a Thumbnail of it... Still scratching my head about those two scenarios and why iOS is even remotely popular with ppl 🤔🤨

MAC laptops last a lot longer, and I've never bought spam ware etc. I still use my windows desktop for all my R/C stuff, cause that's what every you-tuber is apparently using, and it makes following tutorials like this soooo easy. I actually watch video on my Mac, while performing flashing on my windows machine.Lol@@Duraltia

Hello Jhon. Your channel is great is a school for rc pilots and Edgetx users. One suggestion for future video. Make a video setup with EdgeTX ELRS PWM receiver for glow or gas or jet planes or Heli and flight video. Will be great. Some pilots still think that ELRS and they radios and receivers are not reliable for internal combustion models.

First Thanks for the Great Video's. I have a Jumper T16 with OpenTX version 2.3.14 and will use your directions to flash the Jumper T16 to EdgeTX version 2.8.x then to 2.9. My question, I use a JrBox external 4n1 on the back of the Jumper T16 for the multiprotocols. I am guessing that the firmware on the external 4n1 jr box needs firmware updated to match with the EdgeTX now installed on the Jumper T16. How do I make sure the 4n1 module is compatible with the newer radio firmware 2.9.x. Thanks in advance.

Great video, as always! Thank you. I've been testing edge TX with a Radiomaster Pocket and I love the YAML format. This allows you to map switch mappings from one TX model to another (I switched the models from an X-Lite Pro) in MS Word. Now I'm ready to migrate my TX16S from OTX 2.3.15 to ETX 2.9.1. One question I have for the migration of an existing TX: Will I have to rebind all the models after conversion or can I just go on flying after the migration? Thanks

First of all, a lot of great videos. Easy to follow. I have a suggestion for you. In some of the videos you are using EdgeTx Companion and your Radiomaster linked via FrSky XSR-SIM, got that. But, i would like to know how you can read data from your radio? I know from your video setting up Radioprofile you are using a NAS with contents from your SD-card, is that the trick? Please, make a turorial how to setup and connect a Radio in Campanion 2.9 so you can read/write to your SD-card AND see it in the companion simulator. I have no other flightsim stuff. I use my radio for rc construction stuff with a lot of special functions. Iám using a Radiomaster TX16S MK II but it doesnt matter for the connection. Thanks

I just purchased the Radiomaster MT12 surface radio. I’m trying to create a “launch control” function (for drag racing). I need to be able to adjust throttle percentage and the time it takes to clear that range, i.e. 0-30% throttle in .5 second. I would like to be able to create multiple stages like this, i.e. 0-30% in .5sec, 30-45% in .2sec, etc. I would like to have multiple stages (at least 8 possibly more). I would like to be able to toggle the stages off and on the fly i.e 2 stage launch or 8 stage launch or any option in between. I would also be looking to adjust the throttle percentage and stage time on the fly i.e. 0-30% in .5sec to 0-35% in .45sec on the fly. For ease of use I would like the maximum level of the previous stage to control the minimum level of the next stage, i.e. a 5% increase in stage 1 from 0-30% to 0-35% would make the minimum of stage 2 go from 30-45% to 35-45%. I got this radio because I love to tinker. I’m totally new to edgeTX but I’m excited to figure out how to utilize the software. I am not looking for someone to do all the hard work for me, just point me in the right direction. This would be like the seed control function in the Futaba 7PXR TIA

My well-used TX16S, Switch ABCD, does not work with Betaflight and drone. The stick gimbal works well. So I bought a switch and replaced it, but switch ABCD doesn't work like before. What could be the reason? Please tell me how I can do it. And my Zorro works fine too...please help!

It would be great if you made an updated video on how to set up a 3D helicopter for Ikon using edgetx 2.9. I noticed with this new version they now have a wizard for setting up a helicopter instead of just a plane like it used to have. But when I tried to use it yesterday it did not seem to work well at all.

The standard luas come from SD card contents and from the MPM website if you have an MPM. Others like ELRS and Crossfire are vendor specific so you have to check with them. I don't personally use too many LUA scripts outside of ELRS, so I don't really track updates. In other words, if you're not sure, just grab the SD card contents and update your card.

My radio's failing at the first step. When I try to flash bootloader from SD, I get the list of files (renamed as you suggested) but when I select a .bin file, the next screen just shows a flickering firmware filename and "Radio: ionDR" below it. The 'enter' button does nothing :(

This one of the reason I still hold on with the conversion. Read some issues about this.... I am a mid/long range fpv pilot and will not go without this on Ardu or Inav. Video lost and you are still able to see if your plane is on the right way ( home).

Im getting a annoying sensor lost warning every 2 seconds in my radio. I updated to edgetx but its still showing in the tel tab and it goes down starting on the gps sensor and also the rx sensors flash black and it says sensor lost. I reaaaaaly need ur help becuase so far i have not been able to resolve the issue.

@@RCVideoReviews so i think i solved the issue by setting the packet rate to 200hz in elrs lua. On the tx. What settings do u suggest for bulleet proof range and penetraion with elrs 900mhz. When i was getting the sensors lost alarm i had my packet rate at 100hz and tel ratio at 64. What telemetry ratio should i use with 200hz pakt rate. And is 200hz packet rate with 32 igood for range.

Can you reach out to radio Master and get a radio that has instead of everything that’s red on your radio everything that is green call it the green goblin. I needed to match my green AG 01s Josh Barwell has his purple one. It’s only fair you have your green one.
