Upgraded on 12/14/23. All your steps worked. The Win 10 ISO Creation Tool worked. My activation key didn't carry over so I will be purchasing a new license, using the code MTT25. Just waiting on the key to be delivered. UPDATE: Got the digital key and added to computer. There was a problem Activating Windows because it said that I do not have a valid digital license or product key. Tried the Troubleshooting Activation and it keep going for 10 mins so I cancelled the process and restarted the computer. During the restart, there were Windows Updates that hadn't been completed, so it started the process to continuing applying the Updates. After reboot, the Windows Activation key got applied and my Windows 10 Pro is officially Activated. Thanks for the detailed help! I am a subscriber too!

You can purchase a cheap Windows 10 license with the link in the description and then activate Windows 10. Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft has now stopped converting the Windows 7 & 8 licenses to Windows 10 licenses like I mentioned in the video, but for me it was still working when I recorded the video.

I updated all the Win7 updates, performed all the steps on this page, changed my browser to BB10, downloaded, unzipped, and ran setup. Windows starts the upgrade, gathers updates, switches to a blue screen "installing windows 10", gets to 38%, then kicks back to Win7 and displays a message box "Windows 10 installation has failed" (OK) button only. No error code or reason. Windows 7 is activated, has an OEM windows key. Antivirus is uninstalled, drive has 286GB free space, computer meets all win10 requirements. Been trying to upgrade to win10 for more than a week now, maybe 25 times. Trying different things each time. Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks, Robert

Hey man, I wish I could help and I have also encountered similar issues before. Unfortunately, in all those cases I had to do a clean install of Windows 10, it was impossible for me to perform the upgrade from 7 to 10.

Sorry, but if that keeps happening, I don't have a fix other than you will need to do a fresh install of Windows 10, you won't be able to do the upgrade from 7 to 10.

The media creation tool simply shutdown. Went doing the 7zip ISO process, but when i tried to run the “setup” file after unzipping with 7zip, got an error message. And another one like “reinstall using the recomended…”… Didnt work for me. I ll try the media creation tool again.

Hello sir! i updated my pc from windows 7 to 10 on 10/05/24 thanks it still works but my pc has slowed down a lot (even though a lot of storage space is left), it hangs after every single prompt also my wifi speed had decreased. Hi there; 1. On Windows 10 your PC will be slow if you don't have Windows installed on an SSD, if you still have an old conventional Hard Drive, think about replacing it with a Solid State Drive (SSD). 2. The Windows 7 installation doesn't have your Product Key anymore, you should have it somewhere on your computer, you can just enter it again and it should activate. 3. The PC settings changing after you shut down, I'm not sure about that one, sorry...

I got this error right at the middle of upgrading "The system registry contains invalid file paths. Installation cannot proceed. This system image was applied without guaranteeing that drive-letter assignment would match across computers." Would you pls help

I haven't seen that before, did it reverse the upgrade? If so, try and use a program like CCleaner to clean the registry on Windows 7 and then try upgrading again.

Thanks, this worked on 18 February 2024, When my hard drive gave up, I started with a new windows 7 Premium installation, I already had the Disc Plus original code numbers and worked my way through the video instructions, Only problem at the windows 10 installation stage was it didn't let keep anything, so I unticked the box, this was the only way the windows 10 would run and finish, But it didn't matter as I didn't have anything anyway, Thank you Very much, Great video instruction !!, Appreciated !!, Cheers

7:20 i usually download the ISO file pressing f12 in this momento, then click the icon for tablet mode in the top left córner, f5 for refresh the page and the option for the ISO appaer. Is the same thing?

Worked until 79%, where i get an error message - Installation Failed. I do have a problem with a Kernel32.dll file being corrupted, which is why i want to upgrade, to access an app that wont run with the dll file missing or corrupt... is there anyway i can get a kernel32.dll file reinstalled - ive tried lots of options :(

Are you sure that your Hard Drive or SSD is healthy and doesn't contain any errors? I'm wondering if you're issue might be hardware related. Do you have a System Restore point that you can go back to and then try the upgrade again?

@memstechtips Thanks for the reply. I ran CHKDSK which showed no errors and there was only one restore point which did not resolve the problem unfortunately. The Windows update shows error code also.

Pleasure. CHKDSK won't really show any hardware issues on the drive, you'll need to run a Long Generic Test with Seagate Seatools for Desktop for example. Unfortunately, the issue you're having seems a little bit too complex to figure out and solve through KZbin comments. Is it an option for you to completely reinstall Windows and then just install Windows 10 instead of 7?@@seanmathews9543

I don't know why it happens but I think you will need to do a clean install of Win10, the upgrade won't work.

Sept 24th 2024 got it working without needing to going through with the google chrome bit , went to the Microsoft website and downloaded win 10 ….went through with it , whilst previously this would not work without the steps mentioned in the video………many thanks . Tried it today (3 March 2024). I installed Win 7 Pro + SP1 (64-bit) first and activated with a call to MS. I followed all your instructions and it all went well right up until the part where it said 'Windows is not activated Error code: 0xC004F213. I'm positive I saw it flash up something about not being able to reach the activation server......but that was only once and very briefly.

@@memstechtips I was able to activate the Win 7 by calling the automated MS activation line (I still have the long code they gave me so I could reinstall the Win7 and reactivate). I then did your method of installing Win 10 (I chose to keep nothing as it was a fresh Win 7 install anyway). But the Win 10 install was not activated. I looked up the error code and it suggested that there was no active digital licence on the PC so I re-entered the Win 7 COA but then the activation error code changed to the one that said they couldn't activate with that licence.

😥 Unfortunately if that happens you'll need to do a clean install of Windows 10. I haven't found a fix for that yet, and it could be a bunch of different factors causing that. Skipping the update and upgrading it to Windows 10 helped a lot. By the way, Windows 7 to 10 for free is somehow patched. Her computer sometimes has full Windows and sometimes has the trial version. I'm not sure if it will fix it, but you can try and run a registry cleaner, like CCleaner for example, to clean up your registry. Then try upgrade to Windows 10 again.

Does anyone know if this works if your Windows 7 is activated with a generic product key? because this isn't working for me as of August 11 2024 and maybe that's the problem. When I look at computer>properties it says Windows is activated, but when I try to upgrade Windows I get the prompt asking me to enter a product key that shows up when your Windows isn't activated. If I then enter a generic Windows 10 key then it lets me install Windows 10 but without keeping my files.

You should try uninstalling WinRAR and just have 7-zip installed, then you should be able to use it.

I just followed your video completely and I was able to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, however the activation is no longer there and microsoft is wanting me to spend $249 to activate it. Can i just leave it unactivated or will it become problematic?

I'm glad to hear that the upgrade worked for you! Look, it's not really "problematic", you just won't have access to some personalization settings and you'll get an "Activate Windows" watermark at the bottom right of your screen, but the best thing is to get Windows 10 activated legally.
