I actually like the way the original spines look on the shelf. I think they look sharp, even if it is more difficult to find the game you're looking for unless they're alphabetized. Cool idea though! The inserts look awesome as well

I’m happy to say that I received a couple games from your Whatnot Switch sale. I can’t wait to order these for my small Switch collection. Personally I love the weird variety of game case spines, the switch is red, wii is white, Wii U had the little blue lip at the top, Xbox one was mostly just gray.

Also, a good idea could be to cut the custom spine longer than the game case so you can fold it back on top and on the bottom of the cover. That way it will definitely not move no matter how much you open the case.

I think i'm in the minority because I really like the original spines, same with the PAL PS2 spines. If a shelf looks too visually busy i find it hard to find specific games unless the visual style of the spine + logo is ingrained in your mind. On the other hand I can see how some prefer being able to identify a game based on that visual style and logo rather than having to basically read every spine. Two types of people I guess. lol

Honestly while I love that games had their actual logos or whatever design for other systems ... I prefer Switch being a stock standard just title and possibly company logo/name at the bottom. Actually makes it feel less cluttered and stuff. These spines make it seem really over the top and visual overload for me...

Actually I would 100% prefer the "plain red" spines over the custom ones if the game tites would all be starting at the same spot, instead of having some of them being centered. This annoys me even more than the plain red spine. I'd maybe make myself custom plain red spines with perfectly aligned titles. xD

They are the worst spines in history. It’s not that they’re plain, the DS was plain but it’s the fact from a short distance you can barely make out the writing, the white just merges into the bright red. I liked the 3DS and Wii U spines, simple (yet readable) but also I loved the little boxed image they added.

The process is actually super simple Me: Oh cool Because literally all you need are these Nintendo Switch replacement spine inserts Me: .... Dammit But that's only because I'm from the UK. If you're from the US, you literally have everything. Like those DIY tutorials, where it says "Installing this is super easy. All you need is a spinning lathe, which you can get from your local hardware store for just a few billion dollars" ..... oh and, a lot of US tutorials are long, because Americans like words.... for example. British people will say "You will need to...", that's 4 words. Americans will say "OK, what you're gonna wanna do next, is you're gonna wanna go head and...", that's 13.

This is how all switch games should’ve looked by default. I don’t keep my switch games on my shelf because of how plain/hard to easily find games are when they all blend together (even alphabetized like the rest of my collection). I just use a cartridge case for all of them and then put the original box and art in a drawer

I honestly wish the normal switch spines looked like that, it takes ages for me to look through all my games to find the right case cause they all look the same, but with this, each one has significant differences, way easier to read.

The reason why Nintendo doesn't make kick ass box art like they used to is because they are intentionally trying to dissuade people from physical purchases and show the convenience of digital. If something is bland and generic like all the physical boxes with their template restrictions, it invites players to buy digital as it cuts costs and cuts out the middle man. You can see this trend when you seen older box arts to current video game box art. All purposely designed to minimize physical purposes. The lack of effort in the video game logo is pretty telling of the spine especially when you compare Gamecube to Wii to Wii U then to Nintendo Switch.

I might just try this. I find it kind of jarring how some games have the title label in the middle of the spine (I think those are for the EU versions?), while others have it at the upper part. Maybe this way all of my spines will be in an orderly chaotic fashion lol
