The TRBX174 is a killer bass for the price. That said, buy one, don't change a thing & play it like ya stole it..ya kinda did! The sound/tone and feel is outstanding as is. When I got mine it was just Okay coming out of the box, action was a bit high for my liking. Fret ends felt great, and needed very minor attention on 7 frets. I did a good setup and absolutely love this bass. Excellent bass no matter your skill level, even as a new student, you will never reach a point when you say "okay I won't be needing that any longer" it's a true keeper.

to have those basses over your pillow like that you must be extremely confident in your wall hanging abilities 🤣

Thank you for the video. I am currently upgrading my TRBX 174. I replaced the potentiometers and pickups and made shielding. It sounds much better now. I also tried to replace the bridge with the GOTOH 203B-4C, but I like the sound with the original one more. You say the stock tuners are bad tuning, but on my bass that's okay. Did the replacement of the tuners affect the sound?
@joetspaulding2 жыл бұрын
the stock tuners I had worked OK and stayed in tune OK too BUT I looked at how they are designed and the shaft of the tuner is held in place just by a bent piece of metal and that the play (gap between the shaft and the bracket) will grow with time and get worse. take them off look under the chrome cover and you will see what I mean, I wish I had saved them to show you guys. the sound won't be affected but the amount of time to get the note in tune will be cut in half at least, so let fiddling to get in tune... you just don't notice till you try something better

does the Wilkinson tuner fit directly? no drilling needed?

Maybe for an update on this vid, you could describe the process of removal and intstalling a new nut. Must be a learning curve I would imagine.

Thank you very much, man! Great content. Can you link the tuners you mentioned on the video? Thanks
these drop right in but you do need to drill one hole for the small screw

I just bought one 97 UK pounds, so quite cheap. It's got one faulty tunning peg. I plan to just upgrade/replace all the 4 pegs, I'm just wondering is there anything you recommend? Doesn't have to be Yamaha pegs, as long as fairly decent and wil fit in place ok. Will also think about better pick ups and a bridge after sorted the pegs out. It feels really nice to play on/action. I'm quite happy to throw more money at it.

amzn.to/34X25bC these are the ones I bought, love em. they will drop right in but you do need to drill one hole for the small screw and you will have four small holes showing from the old ones. I just put small screws in the extra holes

Also if you like the look of the hi mass bridge this is nice and only$10 (USD) amzn.to/3L1dqa1

Ok thank you mate, I was thinking I might have to add some new small holes. But that's no big deal. 👍

I have this bass and I started before 3 weeks I have one question. What's that hole on the body that is touching the neck also?
@ninehneh2 жыл бұрын
the one at the 24th fret? That is for the trussrod adjustment
@koki_taratorcho2 жыл бұрын
@@ninehneh yeah I know but what is trossrod what it does?
@ninehneh2 жыл бұрын
@Koki Music to straighten the neck if necessary. After a while because of the tension of the strings the neck may bow and make the bass harder to play. The truss rod is a piece of metal in the neck to allow u to do these adjustments. I'd advise if you are a beginner don't touch this as it could damage your neck if not done correctly.

I’m looking to replace the stock bridge on my TRBX 604 with that exact same bridge, would you say it’s a perfect fit?
@joetspaulding2 жыл бұрын
it is an exact fit but the 604 comes with a very nice bridge stock, I have no desire to change the bridge on my TRBX 504.
