I bought a presser foot kit specifically for this foot. I have had it several years and have not hemmed a single pair of pants because instructions unclear. Until now! You are greatly appreciated!

This is the first time on KZbin that someone has explained the way to fold and place the fabric clearly. Moi et ma jupe disent “Merci milles fois!”

I like this much better than using the R foot. The adjustment is so much more convenient.

Can it be used on a curved hem and a bit narrower hem ? For example around a circle.

Thank you for explanations of this foot. Sadly my machine only has conventional stitches & zig zag. So I guess my machine is not suitable for this practice. Well it is nearly 40 years old, but still going strong.

There is a really great video showing how to blind hem stitch without a special foot for your machine. It shows you how to fold your hem and just using your regular stitch and zig zag stitch you can achieve perfect blind hems. I've been going nuts hemming all of my sons and husbands dress slacks and my dress pants that I sewed for myself since viewing this video. It is easy. Look up Alterations by Phyllis. How to blind stitch hems on sewing machine without special foot. Your present sewing machine IS suitable for the practice. Please look up the video.

if you can adjust the width of your stitch you can do this style of blind hem. I have a Singer 401 and I botched the cut when hemming some stretch fabric pants so there wasn't enough of the material that receives most of the stitches. I set my machine for 6 stitches per inch, straight stitch, center and advanced the wheel by hand. I counted 5 and on the sixth stitch I used the width adjustment to move the needle so it only caught one or two threads of the fabric that I was attaching the hem to (so the fabric on the left side of the guide in this video). Honestly, if I'd realized my mistake earlier I would have used my standard/open foot rather than my blindhem foot. Alternately, you could do a long zig-zag and align the fabric so the needle only catches a couple threads of the fabric on the left. The blindhem is really about keeping the hem from showing; adjusting the stitch width so it only catches a couple threads is the key.

Absolutely awful! It is not a blind stitch if you can see that much. That foot works better on bulky fabrics and it is also great for topstitching. You should make a few samples until the needle catches only one tread. I know, it is very hard. I can do much better job by hand.
