As a newbie DIY guy, I've watched several dozen videos, some twice, picking up different and complementary tips along the way. Although this presentation is informal, it's the most complete and useful I've seen regarding safety. Pros with power tool experience might neither need nor appreciate this thoroughness, but beginners should take it to heart. Great job, Handymom!

I was brought up in an apartment in the city, spent my entire life behind the computer and doing sports, never really held a screwdriver before. Now that I moved to the countryside to live in a house with a big backyard, I started growing a keen interest in learning and doing a lot of things by myself and with my own hands. I can't explain how excited I am to learn how to use all these tools and to actually build or make things with them. Living in the countryside is great.

Your video was much more in depth (than other videos I viewed) at describing and addressing safety concerns that first time users of the circular saw are concerned with and wondering about, as well as how to use it. It's easy to get over confident with a seemingly easy tool and wind up with a missing finger or cut leg, etc. Thanks for going to great lengths to drive that point home!
@osh20233 жыл бұрын
I've seen a bunch of safety vids on the circular saw. A rare few of them mentioned staying on the line and never trying to correct your cut path while the blade is running through the material, so, excellent tip. Also, always support your cutting material so it won't sag and bind the blade (happens easily if you cut in the middle and not cutting an edge piece off). Also important for safety: always check the blade guard went properly back into place before setting saw down -- without the guard the saw could run circles around you, running on the exposed blade... Might save your toes! so, just check it. Thanks for posting.

Thank You, thank you and one more time THANK YOU! I’m just getting into woodworking and ironically enough my boyfriend is a Framer who has all kinds of tools but Because he’s been doing this for so long all his tools are rigged in a very unsafe way. I recently ordered a compact circular saw that was more my speed And didn’t understand why there was a black plastic thing against my blade so As I’m trying to cut a piece of wood I’m trying to lift this thing off the blade and I almost cut my finger off didn’t realize it was the guard for the blade. I’ve always heard of guards but I have never seen one on any of his tools lol. So I decided to put the tool down do some research to get an understanding of how to use it properly and that’s when I came across you. Great video I subscribed and I just think you’re fantastic so really thank you so much

What blades cut what types of materials would be helpful! I want to rip up a sheet of plywood for some closet shelving and I bought a saw a with a blade already attached to it - but I’m not sure it’s the best blade for the job... this will be my first time using a circular and I’m scurrrred.
@NoName832014 жыл бұрын
How important is setting depth? Why?
@JunksawStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hello :) For power tools, I would recommend starting off with a drill and a circular saw! I would say most projects can be accomplished with just these two things 🙂
@jmackinjersey13 жыл бұрын
@@mehwishkhan9671 each blade will have the type/types of materials on the packaging as well as the blade itself. This helps when you first start out and can see the differences in the blades and teeth. Typically larger and of course less teeth per blade, are for rougher cuts, like a framing/lumber blade. Thinner teeth are finer cutting blades. Same with smaller/more(per blade) teeth. These are typically used for cutting trim or nicer, up-grade plywood. There are other blades to cut plastics, typically smaller teeth as well. You can also buy heavy-duty blades for the occasional nail or small bolt that may be around if you are using this for demolition type settings. But the thing you need to do is KEEP TJE PLASTIC PACKAGING. Not yelling, simply emphasizing this point. Reason is, the marking on the side of the blade will rub off after the first couple of cuts. Then we forget what the blades are for, especially if they were bought for a special or specific material to cut. Then you simply remove the blade from the saw and put it back in the packaging/container and this also protects the teeth/blade as well as anything that may come into contact with the blade when it is not on the saw. (Learn from other's mistakes)
