New to the climber world and put it to use this hunting season. kzbin.infoUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs I felt safe while climbing up and down a tree. It did take some time getting used to climbing and descending the tree. Once I figured it out I was comfortable going in climbing a tree knowing I was going to be up a tree quickly and most importantly quite not scaring every deer out of my area. I am 6’2” and 240 lbs, fit and comfort were great. I bow hunt and found no issues hunting from it. It is a little bulky to carry in and out of the woods vs some of the smaller open front climbers but I thought it was worth the bulk/weight due to ease of climbing (using the rail to sit on) and comfort for long sits.

Update definitely follow these tips I rushed up a tree without checking my teeth when I was wild boar hunting and had an accident. I ended up a few miles into the woods dangling from my harness. You should always use one and don’t end up like me. I stayed over 24 hours dangling before a local farmer found me. I thought I was coyote bait. Good thing I was able to forage some bugs on the tree to stay alive. I felt like an off brand bear gryls tbh. These are great tips Dylan. I won’t be rushing my climbs anymore!

So good video ! I'd like to add a couple things I do... your platform should always be tilted up to start and then LEVEL OUT when you get to the desired height... You need to start tilted cuz the tree may get thinner as you go up, so you need to compensate for this! Takes a little practice ! Also when you get to desired Height the platform should be level ! If pointed up may slip down the tree and also if pointed down this could be a structural problem! I sit when I climb , It;s easier on your arms and shoulders so you can use major Muscles to climb... When your at desired height wiggle stand to LOCK IN THE TEETH ! When coming down lift up with bottom piece to loosen from tree and POINT TOES DOWN AND RE- GRAB.. TAKE SHORT STROKES,, iF YOUR IN A HURRY YOU CAN SLIP! DON'T SLEEP IN TREE STAND !! Iv;e been using climbers for 30 yrs.. 1st time homemade stand 30 lbs BASE ONLY , Had to hug the tree ... WTF someone smarter said Hey why not use TWO pieces !!LOL

I grew up hunting as a kid and stopped when I was 12 or 13. I have always loved hunting and fishing but after my dad left I didn’t have anyone to hunt with. I used a climber one time as a kid but it was set up for me I never knew how to set them up. Now just this year at 39 years old I decided I had to get back into hunting I don’t need to have anyone to go with I can go by myself. But now that I waited so long to get back into it I am relearning everything and learning a lot of things I never learned along the way. I never was able to harvest a deer. The only time I had one come out on me while I was hunting was the time I used the climber I was 10 or 11 at the time and I thought it was so awesome that I could just climb a tree like that so I climbed like 35 feet up a big pine tree. When the deer came out I was too scared to shoot because I was so high up and there wasn’t harnesses back then I don’t think, if there was I definitely wasn’t wearing one. But I was afraid the recoil of the 12 ga was gonna make me fall out of the tree lol. I ended up passing up the only chance I ever had to land one. Hopefully I can get one in January into the beginning of Feb season 2024. I will be so stoked . I’ve been out about 4 times this year for doe and the 6 day buck but no luck because I still suck. I’ve been using a blind because I don’t have a climber but I’m gonna get one for January. Hopefully the good lord blesses me with a big buck. Thank you for your video. I feel like it's really noisy, but maybe if taking your time it wouldn't be so bad. Thoughts?
@ExtremeOutdoorsmen3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s not bad when your taking your time out there in the woods. I’m super quiet getting up in the tree! Been using these climbers for prolly 5-6+ years 👍🏻 what do you usually hunt out of?

@@ExtremeOutdoorsmen Last season was the first season bowhunting whitetails, I was mostly learning and scouting and doing some ground hunts. I have the area figured out for the most part so now I'm looking into ways to get in a tree. Right now I'm leaning towards a saddle.

The first lesson is. Don't buy a climber that uses cables instead of chains. The second lesson is, don't take hunting advice from a guy with a man bun.

They have ones with chains? And why are those better?

The third lesson is, don't bend over in front of Peter Perkins.

mine doesn't have cables or chains. it has a bar with a knife edge that digs into the tree. not sure what make/model it is, but it's that cat's ass. has a proper seat with a back on it. the seat is reversible, so that once up in place, you can choose to have the tree at your back, or sit facing the tree.

He doesn't have the plastic foot pieces set correctly and he is missing the bungy cord that locks your feet in, the stand works even better with those pieces included and set correctly.
@ExtremeOutdoorsmen3 жыл бұрын
There’s not righr ans way wrong to have those foot pieces bro lol they where I like em on my stand! Works way better for me. And that bungy cord piece is a pain in the butt I took that off it’s annoying on your feet. 👍🏻 thanks for watching
@duesing63 жыл бұрын
@@ExtremeOutdoorsmen You are having problems with the bungy because you have the foot holders to far away from your feet, it all work perfectly if you set it close around your boots. Your are having to tilt your feet way to high up to move the stand your way, but its your stand do what you want.
